A photograher friend wanted to take pictures of Ian & Kendall  with the car and motorbike ...
the 47 Olds Chevy 350 w/ Turbo 350 Trans a 12 Bolt rear end with 4:10 gears ...
 and the 1970 Amen Chopper with a 1971 CB500 SOHC engine
It was quite the experience for them ...

 Kendall was one of six (out of twenty-five women) chosen to participate at the Indy 500 as an "Indy Girl"...
in Edmonton July 25, 2010 ...

Grandma Jean was an avid knitter and crocheter ...

Each family was given an afghan or more ...

Grandma Jean had 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren ...

She spent countless hours making sure that each child would receive one as a keep-sake ...

Finally after a few years ... new glasses to ease the strain on my eyes ...

now with the prescription glasses AND sunglasses ... will be able to create in any type of weather ...

 or just sit down and relax or read ... !

Although , most of my time is spent in the vehicle traveling ....

hmmmm ... at least I'll be able to see where I'm going now ... !

Dishcloths & Afghans ....

Knitting & Crocheting

These are just a few of the dishcloths I have made over the years ...the old standard knitted cloths and then trying new patterns ... mastering the Feather and Fan Dishcloth ... these make wonderful gifts ...usually wrap a ribbon around them to make bows and then tuck items into them, such as kitchen utensils... baby items ... flowers ... etc.

  This afghan is made on a 21" Double Ended Crochet Hook ... a neighbour taught me how to use this hook ... I purchased a hook from her as they are not available in stores ... or at least was never able to to find one ... they were special made by a friend ... the hook I now use was handmade by my father ... the afghans can be made in any size ... have made baby afghans, lounge chair, and up to bed size afghans ... most of my creations have been gifts for family and friends ...

Special note:

My girlfriend Dagmar did not know that I knitted or crocheted to this extent ...

I sent her a few dishcloths many years ago and just found out that she thought I had purchased them ... she has been on my case to post some of my work ... and yes ... Dagmar yours is at the house ...  boxed up ready to be delivered when you arrive back from Arizona ...

It's a good thing to have these bath time crayons and markers now ... that you can easily wash off ...

Mike's Birthday ...

Dinner for Two

We decided to stay home and enjoy a quiet evening celebrating Mike's birthday ...

We had a good day outdoors clearing away the snow and playing ...

no desire to head into town for dinner ...

Displaying a few of the gifts and cards he received ... 

as well as numerous phone calls of best wishes for this occasion ...

 Decided to make cupcakes instead of a whole cake ... adapted my chocolate cake recipe with "no sugar " added ... cut them in half and filled them with "No Sugar" chocolate pudding ...  topped with whipped cream ,  a cherry and grated dark chocolate ...

... was a real treat for an "Old Diabetic" as he always calls himself ...

Playing in the Snow


After our blast of winter ... decided to go out and clear off the deck ... the snow was heavy and sticky ... perfect condition for making snowballs ... instead of shoveling it away ...
started to roll up the snow into large round balls ... Mike thought I was crazy, but in the end ...
 joined me in making another snowball ... we then dressed him up in the proper attire ...
took a few pictures in the bit of sunshine we had ....
and then continued with the task of removing the remaining snow that was left on the deck ...
... under the watchful eye of Mr. Snowman ...

What a difference a day makes ... yesterday afternoon the sun shone ... stars and moon were out in the night ... woke up early this morning with a light dusting of snow on the trees ...
and just a couple hours later ... completely covered in a blanket of snow ...

Celebrating Teresa's Valentine birthday at Mr. Mike's Bar & Grill  ...
Teresa had invited a few of her friends to join her for dinner ...
 little did she know that her mom was going to arrive from Qualicum Beach to surprise her ...
Cindy had called me to come and pick her up at the airport on Sunday... we spent a lovely evening visiting .... then Monday morning Cindy went into town ... she arrived at Teresa's home ...
let herself in ... knowing that Teresa was getting ready for her days events ...
Cindy tried to sneak in but the dog was going crazy ...
when Cheyanne realized who it was ... calmed down ...
 Teresa was still not aware who had entered into her home ...
 she was busy applying her eye make-up and was unable to see without having her glasses on ...
Teresa was puzzled ... all she could see was a blurry short person ...
and she just presumed it was me ... !!!!
Cindy still hadn't said anything to her and just went to her bedside ...
 leaned over and gave her a big kiss and said hello ... Teresa was so surprised ...!!!
 Mother and daughter had a wonderful time spending the day together before meeting all of us for dinner ... !
A most enjoyable evening, eating, drinking, talking, laughing and having fun ...!!!

1929 Model "A"

Well here are a few pictures of my son's new toy ... the men in my family seem to have this need to tear things apart and then re-build them ...

The car is a 1929 Model A with a 1923 T Bucket body ... Chevy 350 w/400 HP ...
 Turbo 350 Transmission ... Ford 9" Rear end w/4:56 gears.
The car was originally from Louisiana ... it was bought and rebuilt  in Medicine Hat, Alberta ... that person then  traded it to my son for his 1985 Chevy 1500 on 46" tires ... apparently due to a new baby arriving , this young man needed a more family friendly vehicle ... LOL.

This truck was huge  ....  I needed a step ladder just to reach the door ... I fit under the front bumper no problem ... guess putting in my own windshield washer fluid would be out of the question ... 

 definitely not recommended as a "family" vehicle ... the Model "A" is more my size ... !!

Found Treasures

While on my walk downtown yesterday ... I decided to stop in this little shop of unique collectibles ...

 my dear friend Dagmar is always hunting for treasures ... 

and low and behold look what I found for her ... !!  

She had asked me to be on the look-out for one of these carts for her "Farm Chicks Adventure"

I also found these interesting salt & pepper shakers for her ... of course ...
 they are for one of her many crafting creations ...
Dagmar will have to wait until April or May to receive them ...
 there are too many miles between us ...
it will have to be a road trip ... a good excuse to get together !!!
