Driftwood ...
Little Treasures
Spent some time at moms ...
getting things ready for her to come back home ...
was a nice day ...
took a few pictures of the little treasures displayed around the house ...
Mom & dad loved collecting driftwood ...
Dad would clean them up and varnish some of them ...
then he would wait to see where mom wanted to have them placed ...
Brings a smile to my face ...
remembering those little touches of dad ...

New Creations ...
After a while of making a few flowers ... not able to figure out how to make them larger ...
(waiting for Dagmar's input )
Decided to go back and crochet larger hearts instead ...
thought it required an edging to finish it off ...
and learned how to create the "Picot Edging"...
was quite delighted with the results ...
NOW ... back to the flowers ...!

Tsunami in Japan ...
Waiting patiently to hear from mom and Kurt as they were to leave Hawaii today for home in BC ...
Flights have been delayed ... wishing them a safe journey ... I think it will be a long day for them ...
will keep checking for information ...
will keep checking for information ...
A couple pictures of Hawaii ... a damaged pier and large waves ... the tsunami was generated by an 8.9 magnitude earthquake in Japan ... it hit causing some damage around the island...
Tsunami in Japan
Devastating images of the Tsunami in Japan ....
Waiting to hear from Takuro from Japan ... I met him about 10 years ago ...
he was a student attending The College of the Rockies ... here on a 2 year term ...
to return to Japan to teach math ...
I had gone to a Locals Music event at the Studio Stage Door ... Tak was in the foyer playing the piano ...
an incredible musician ... and playing all the songs that I love to sing ... I introduced myself and ended up sitting down beside him and started to sing ... instant connection ... we continued to get together weekly ... practised our songs and then performed at a few music events ...
we managed quite well with the language barrier ... many laughs trying to get our points across ...
at times using pen and paper or our hands...
I also remember his passion for baseball ... he had always wanted to play ...so he joined a team ...
what fun he had ... they only thing he didn't own was a glove ... so on his birthday ...
I presented him with a gift ... his own Baseball Glove ...
the joy in his eyes and the smile on his face was all worth it ... he was so grateful ... even slept with it ...
Tak fell in love with Canada and decided that he wanted stay here instead of returning to Japan ...
but sadly life happens ... Tak received word that his father was ill ...
and before he made it back his father passed away ...
Tak ended up staying ... feeling responsible to take care of his family ...
He is still very involved with his passion for music and photography ...
he has also written a number of books
... an amazing young man ...
Pray that all is well with him and his family ... we continue to stay in touch ...
sending love & light

Pretty Pink Carnations...
Flowers from Mom
These flowers were handmade by my mother a few years ago ...
she is usually knitting or crocheting something ...
hats, sweaters, vests, scarfs, afghans, etc ...
I even remember, growing up, watching her work on the electric knitting machine ...
(not sure where it is now)
Many of our outfits were made on that machine ...
at that time mom would make two outfits exactly the same for "me and my sister "
perhaps there is still a photo somewhere ...?
These gifts are always appreciated ...
especially knowing they were made with ... love ... !

Fresh from the Oven
Homemade Pizza for Lunch
After our hard work and playing in the snow...
we were hungry for a pizza ...and since there isn't a pizza place on the mountain ...
it means you have to make it yourself ... whole-wheat pizza dough ...
and you have to use what toppings are available ...
ham, mushrooms, red peppers, onions, asiago cheese and marble cheddar cheese ...
no mozza cheese in the fridge ...
didn't matter ... was delicious ...
mmmmmmmmmm

Fresh Powder ...
Ohhhh ... the wide open unmarked field and roads were calling me ...
after I finished clearing the deck and walkways of snow ...
decided to go and play before the roads and driveways were ploughed ...
not even the main road was cleared yet ...
highways department were too busy to venture off the beaten track ... Yeah ... for me ... !!!!
It was a beautiful, sunny, warm day ...
hours of fun !

Fresh Snow ...
Our travels yesterday from Alberta was a traffic free journey as well as no weather issues ...
until ... the CNP ...
when Mike took over the drive ... bouts of wind ... blowing snow ... heavy snowfall ...
thru to the tunnel ... then clear ... stars were out ...
Woke up this morning to 4" of freshly fallen snow ...
a most beautiful site ...
and now the work begins to clear driveways, decks, and walkways ...
or perhaps a playday ...
snowmobiling in fresh powder ...
ahhhh ... yes a much better idea ... !!!
