Here's The Skinny On Scarves ...

In the midst of crocheting slippers ...
I received another pattern from Dagmar...
this time it was for an easy scarf ...
one she said I had to make ...
(starting with 259 stitches ...
4 crochet rows ...
and a edging of picot stitches ...
ended up being 2 1/2 " wide and 8ft long ...)

 

It was a cool ... rainy day ...

perfect time to wrap this stylish scarf around me ...

to keep warm ...

Turkey Dinner For Mike ...

 

Today we had our Thanksgiving dinner ...
as Mike was unable to enjoy one last week ...
Mom & Kurt joined us for the afternoon and evening ...
arriving with a beautiful bouquet of flowers ...
and ... YES this is OMA cooking in my kitchen ...
making her  famous "Blau Kraut" ...
and just look at the delectable turkey ...

We're grateful for spending time together ...
and the many blessings in our lives ...

 

After being stuffed like a turkey ...

Pumpkin Pie with whipped cream ...

was served for dessert ...

with a 

fresh cup of Decaf coffee ... 

Clouds At Sunset ...

 

 Burk had sent me this picture ...

that he had taken ...

from his apartment in Cranbrook ...

He had written the following ...

"Just as we came up from supper...

 I was amazed seeing that cloud all lit up by the last rays of the sun."

It is a beautiful photo ... one I would have taken myself ... had I seen it ...

New Slippers Made ...

Thought I would sit back and relax today ...
it's been awhile since I had some yarn and a crochet hook ...
in my hands ...
my dear friend ... Dagmar ...
inspired me to start up again ...
as she has been showing me her new creations ...

These are known as "Mary Jane" slippers ...

getting a pattern ...

and starting with the small size ...

making sure I understood the pattern ... 

ripping them out and starting over a few times ...

had a couple pair ...

whipped up in no time ...

Perfect for the cool nights ...

and compact enough ...

to take with you travelling ...

love the golden yellow colour ...
bringing the fall shades indoors ...

Ella had a shopping spree ...
with the money she received for her birthday ...
I was told that she tried on lots of outfits ...
and she fell in love with this dress ...
with all the sequence and frills ...
she even bought the headband to match ...

I was hoping that this day would have had the woodshed full ...
didn't happen ...
after two loads I was still short ...
figured again ... that one more should fill it ...

 

Thanksgiving afternoon ... spent it out in the wilderness ...

getting the last load of firewood ...

was a lovely day ... fresh air ... picnic amongst the trees  ...

 Finished unloading and stacking the wood ...

could hardly reach tossing them up ...

while standing in the bed of the truck ... 

Hope Mike will be able to get them down ... !!!

Once the log pile is split and put away ...

considering the woodshed FULL ... !!!

A Day of Gratitude ...

 

" Gratitude makes sense of our past ...

brings peace for today ...

 clouds disappearing ...

letting the sun shine thru ...

ended up being a nice ... 

 fall day ...

Just In Time ...

Before It Rained 
 

The weather forecast for today ...
was for it to rain in the afternoon ...
went out in the morning ...
out onto the Crown land with old "Blue" ...
 to cut up some trees ...
that had been blown down from the wind storms ...
first load cut and put away ...
 within a couple hours ...
 

Decided to go and get another load of wood ...

after lunch ...

the clouds were moving in ... wind was picking up ...

hoping that I would be able to finish this load ...

And I Did ...

the skies opened up and it poured ...

 just as I had put the chainsaw  ...

back in "Old Blue" ...

and headed to the shop ...

to put things away ...

It was a great day ... !!!

This was Daigen's and Nixon's first Ferry ride ...
on their way to their Aunties wedding ...

Once they arrived Ian and Daigen ...
had fun playing in the water ...

Another Busy Day ...

 

Another morning canning ...
this head of cabbage was the last of the vegetables that I wanted to get done ...

 

This was the first time canning purple cabbage ...
was surprised to see the deep purple colour disappear ...
due to the processing ...
I'm sure it will still taste the same ...

Headed outside after lunch to get a few more loads of firewood ...

 

It was so beautiful outside ...
finished cutting up the wood that was laying on the ground by the hydro poles ...
and put them into the woodshed ...
Passed by this dead tree numerous times today ...
so when I went to pick up my saw and gas can ...
I decided to knock the tree over ...
and down it went with just a slight push ...
roots and all ...
surprised that the wind storms hadn't knocked it over ...

 

Removed the branches ...

 cut it up ... cleaned up ... 

and took this last small load to the woodshed ...

After 4 loads ... figured I had done enough for today ...

time for dinner ... sit back and relax ...
