Our little Nixon is 2 months old today ...

what a adorable little boy ...

I think daddy is pushing it a bit ...

It was wonderful to be able to give Nixon a bottle ...

while mom was gone for the afternoon ...

I flew up to see the grandchildren ...

and help the family out for the weekend ...

I was so thrilled to see them ...

couldn't believe how much Nixon had changed ...

It's going to be a fun weekend ... !!!!

Haul Them Out ...

 

Mike spending the day ...

hooking up and hauling the trees out ...

dragging them into the field ...

where they can be de-limbed and cut up for firewood ...

Opening Up The View


Today was the day that Mike went out with his saw ...
and started to clear out some of the trees ...
in front of the house ...
we have been wanting to do this since Mike retired ...
the trees were blocking our view ...
of the mountains ...
from inside the house ...
sitting looking out our picture window ...

Mike ended up topping a few of them ...
as we still wanted some seclusion ...
from the main road ...

 

All the pictures were taken from the deck on the house ...

WOW ... what a spectacular view now ... !!!

Just like we remembered it was when we built the house ...

A few more trees to fall ...

on the other side ... of the driveway ...

in the next few days ...

We'll clean up the branches ...

haul them into the field ...

and buck up the tree ...

to start on our firewood supply pile ...

I could sit out here for hours and look at the view ...

Raspberry/Blueberry Oatmeal Cookie Bar

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bar

Prep Time:  15 Min

Cook Time: 
40 Min

Ready In:  
55 Min

Original Recipe Yield 1 - 8x8 inch pan

Ingredients

         1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

         1 cup whole wheat flour

         1/4 teaspoon baking soda

         1/8 teaspoon salt

         1 cup rolled oats

         1/2 cup butter, softened

         3/4 cup seedless raspberry jam or jam of your choice

Optional:  add sunflower seeds, chopped almonds, pumpkin seeds to pastry.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 8 inch square pan, and line with parchment paper

#1  Combine brown sugar, flour, baking soda, salt, and rolled oats. 

#2  Rub in the butter using your hands or a pastry blender to form a crumbly mixture. 

#3  Press 2 cups of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. 

#4  Spread the jam to within 1/4 inch of the edge.  

#5  Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the top, and lightly press it into the jam.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in preheated oven, or until lightly browned. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.

this was all cleared and bare ...

my job was to shovel the deck ...

and toss the snow over the railings ...

so Mike could clear it away ...

with the tractor ...

Mike started ploughing the driveway ...

around 10:00 in the morning ...

it was still snowing at that time ...

then ventured down to moms ...

to clear her area as well ...

thank goodness the snow had stopped falling ...

He then was back here around 3:30pm ...

to finish moving the snow at our place ...

took him a couple more hours ...

before he came in and called it a day ...

A beer was first on his list of refreshments ...

having dinner and watching ...

the UFC fights ...

A well deserved evening of relaxing ... !!!!
