from our indoor garden ...

A Special Place ...

Mom, Mike & I hiked up to dad's favourite place ...
to lay some flowers ...
remembering him on his birthday ...

Gazing at the beautiful view of the lake below ...
we were blessed to see ...
a Bald Eagle ...
flying high up in the sky ...

For us ... a sign that dad is still watching over us ... !!!

Kendall's Birthday ...

Kendall spent the morning ... digging in her flower garden ...
planting all her new little shrubs and plants ...
this is what she wanted for her birthday ...
to spend some time creating ...
without any interruptions ... !!!

 

A few friends were invited to celebrate Kendall's birthday ...
the guys were in charge of the BBQ ...
they did a fabulous job on the baked potatoes and steak ...
the kids had so much fun playing and running around ...
Kendall was able to sit back and enjoy her day ....

 

While Oma and I watched the children inside ...

the guys were sitting out on the deck ...

the girls went down to the shop ... "Girl Time"

(just like the guys do ... shop talk) ...

to admire Kendall's car with her new set of rims & tires ...

Cousin Bill was delighted to go for a ride in Ian's Rat Rod ...
His eyes were as big as saucers ... when Ian fired it up ...
and cut loose on the road ...
Bill was amazed with the power it had ...

 

And of course dad had to go for a ride also ...
this was the first opportunity he had ...
his remarks were ...
"It's a wild machine ...!!!"
and
"Can understand why you need goggles ...!!"

Almost like flying when Ian steps on the gas ... !!!

We then went outside to go for a walk ...
and headed to the RV ...
to get a drink and make some popcorn ...
while watching a bit of Happy Feet 2 ...

 

Spent some time with Nixon ...
getting his exercise ...
in his little play centre ...

Daigen loves bubbles ... here is is with his friend Megan ... she lives next door ...
Ian & Oma had their work cut out for them ...
the kids would chase bubbles for hours ...

 

Off they go into the woods ... who's steering the Jeep ...???

 

There were a few incidents with the Jeep ... seems they couldn't decide who would steer ...
Ian had to pull them out of a few situations ...

 

Good friends of Ian & Kendall's ...

came for a visit ...

Ryan and Brandi had a great time playing with the kids ...

wheelbarrow races and jumping on the trampoline ...

I'm not sure who was having more fun ...

the kids or the adults ...

Does not matter ... we all had a fun and a few good laughs ... !!!

We spent the afternoon at the Greenhouse ...
Oma and Kendall were going thru it to find the plants ...
Kendall wanted for her garden ...
While I took the boys for a walk ...
then headed back indoors to see all the beautiful flowers ...

 

Packing the shrubs and plants to the Jeep ...
Kendall happy with her gifts ...
from Mike and I ...
Daigen bent down to smell the scent of the sunflower ...
was so cute watching him ...

 

Kendall couldn't wait to get started ...

with planting her greenery ...

the planter for her table was an extra ... she had her eye on that for sometime ...

and really wanted it ...

Her neighbour had given her the two large butterflies ...

and Kendall picked up the little ones ...

to be mounted on the house by the deck ...

the family complete ...

Nixon was delighted to finally be home from the tour of the greenhouse ... !!!

(I ended up picking up a few plants myself for my rock garden)

Taking the travel trailer on it's first trip to Alberta ...

we arrived early evening ...
so happy the kids were still up ...
for Oma to hug her 5th Great-Grandchild ...

 

Nixon has started eating solid food ... he loves his sweet potatoes ...
so exciting to see him ...
rolling around on the floor as well ...
it's amazing how quickly they learn ...

Ian was so excited ...

it had been quite a long time since he played with one of those ...

In memory of Doug Erickson ...
an annual music event ...
takes place in the valley ...

 

 

Local musician gathered together ...

giving us an evening of music ...

to enjoy ...

a special treat was when 4 members of the group ...

"As The Crow Flies"

 performed for the audience ... 

Lot's of memories ... friends ... singing ... laughing ... playing ...

sitting around the campfire ...

into the wee hours of the morning ...

Mike's cousin Bill ...

from southern Ontario ... 

 is out west here in Edmonton ...

working for a few months ...

it's been quite a few years ...

since we last saw him ... 

when we were back in Ontario ... !

We decided to pay him a visit  ...

as he would not have the time to drive to BC ...

to see us ...

We all met at Ian & Kendall's home ...

today they went golfing ...

then we had a barbecue of the Rainbow Trout ...

that we had caught earlier in the week ...

We are having a great time ...

In For A Dip

 

After our fishing day on May 15, 2012 ...

Mike decided to go for a swim ...

this is the earliest ...

ever ...!!!

Usually we do not even open it up until after the long weekend ...

but this day was hot ... 31 degrees ...

He found it quite refreshing ... !!!

Too cold for me ... !!!

When Your Brother Visits Your School 

 

Kendall sent me this picture of the boys ...

the teachers were watching Nixon ... 

and decided to put him in a tub filled with styrofoam bits ...

Daigen seems to be having a great time ... 

Nixon, not to sure on what his brother is doing ...

I can see trouble brewing in the future ... !!

Parts Are In ...

The Trailer Fridge
 

Mike searched online for parts for this fridge ...
he found a place that fixes the cores ...
so we bought a refurbished one ...
and sent the old one back to the company ...
also replaced the thermostat ...
it took Mike a few days ...
to put all the pieces back together ...

 

All done ...
 test run complete ...
it lives again ...
 

Now to get it back into the trailer ...
Mike thought that I would be able to lift up the fridge as he pulled ...
but ... no way ... I couldn't do it ...
so we traded places ...
I pulled as he lifted ...
and voila ... there it was ... inside ... !!!
 

It took both of us to lift it up and over the couch ...

and table ledge ...

Teamwork ... got it done ... !!!

Getting it ready to take it on a trip ... !!!
