Cookies ... GT Racer ... Car ...

We were up early this morning ... ready to seize the day ...

after breakfast we set the table to start icing and decorating ...

all the cookies that were baked the day before ...

Nathan came in to inspect the creative decorating of the cookies ...

Hey ...!!!!

There are a few cookies missing ... Nathan ...?????

We had a fun time decorating ...

The kitchen was cleaned up and the cookies left out to dry ...

before they were packaged up to be taken home ...

James was feeling better ...

they all went out to go sledding ... being pulled by grandpa on the quad ...

hmmmm ...

where did that extra GT Racer come from ...

I thought we only had two ... ???

The kids had a blast outside ... it was still very cold ... so they were not out for very long ...

It was time to have some lunch ... finish a few projects and get things packed up to head back home ...

Ella finished creating the Christmas card for their cousins ... Daigen and Nixon ...

so that I could send it in the package being mailed to Texas ...

Oma's car was cleaned out as well ... Nathan found a pair of Opa's flip-up sunglasses ...

and they all took a turn in trying them on ...

They sure got quite a kick out of them ...

The car was packed up ... ready to take Oma's car home ...

Everyone was excited and happy for this awesome gift ...

Leaving Arizona ...

We left Arizona in the afternoon ...

it was a beautiful warm day ...

We landed in Salt Lake City in a snowstorm ... it took us an extra 30 minutes ...

for the airlines to de-ice the plane ...

before we flew to Kalispel ...

It was a beautiful day for our drive home ... we were talking about our great trip ...

and then about 40 mins from home ...

a deer leapt out of the ditch and ran into our vehicle ...

as another deer came from the other side of the road ...

Mike did a great job of driving and not too much damage was done ...

Unfortunately the deer did not survive ... we did contact the authorities ...

to let them know where the deer was laying ...

We did have a lovely time visiting with Dave and Linda ... !!!

the parts for the 1964 Volkswagen are in ...

The guys are ready to start rebuilding it ... !!!

Now That's A Drink ...

Relaxing and cooling off in the afternoon ...

Blowing bubbles ... 

Grandma reading a book to Nixon ...

as he took time to go potty ...

although ... he wouldn't take his helmut off ...

Daigen writing his full name on the driveway ...

then they played a bean bag toss game ...

We decided to go for a walk ... the kids chose what they wanted to ride ...

later Ian and grandpa took a ride in the Rat Rod ...

to pick up the ingredients needed for the evenings cocktail ...

 This was the drink they decided to make ...

a "Coronarita" 

(12 oz Corona ...12 oz Tequila ... 12 oz Limeaid ...12 oz Sprite or 7 Up)

all the ingredients were mixed in the Margarita Maker ...

served in a glass with a Corona Beer bottle ...

turned upside down ...

needless to say ... after a couple of these drinks ... they were a happy bunch ... !!!

A Close Call …

It was an interesting day … yesterday …

I had plowed all the snow away the day before …

that night it had rained … for hours …

I was to go into town for an appointment …

was a little hesitant … when I saw all the ice …

I called the neighbour next door …

and was told his wife left for work without any problems …

the main road had been grated and heavily sanded …

Well …was not a wise idea to head out …

we have a gentle slope in the driveway for the water to run off …

away from the house …

I backed out of the driveway … slowly … slightly turning …

and 

that was all it took for the car to be sliding down the slope … 

heading for the tree and ditch …

Grateful for the snow bank that was pushed there when I plowed …

Ended up salting and sanding the area … waited for the warm weather to melt it …
along with driving the tractor … scraping and hoping the chains would break it up …

I was able to drive out without any problems …

Upper driveway and parking by the shop …

driveway in front of house … downhill … to the lower part …

My Buick is now parked at the bottom of the hill beside the garage …

on the flatland …

Thankful … I was ok and no damage done to the SUV …

Kendall's Birthday ...

In The Garden

Kendall spent the morning ... digging in her flower garden ...
planting all her new little shrubs and plants ...
this is what she wanted for her birthday ...
to spend some time creating ...
without any interruptions ... !!!

 

A few friends were invited to celebrate Kendall's birthday ...
the guys were in charge of the BBQ ...
they did a fabulous job on the baked potatoes and steak ...
the kids had so much fun playing and running around ...
Kendall was able to sit back and enjoy her day ....

 

While Oma and I watched the children inside ...

the guys were sitting out on the deck ...

the girls went down to the shop ... "Girl Time"

(just like the guys do ... shop talk) ...

to admire Kendall's car with her new set of rims & tires ...

Cousin Bill was delighted to go for a ride in Ian's Rat Rod ...
His eyes were as big as saucers ... when Ian fired it up ...
and cut loose on the road ...
Bill was amazed with the power it had ...

 

And of course dad had to go for a ride also ...
this was the first opportunity he had ...
his remarks were ...
"It's a wild machine ...!!!"
and
"Can understand why you need goggles ...!!"

Almost like flying when Ian steps on the gas ... !!!
