Gone Fishing Again ...

May 24, 2017

We had arranged to go fishing with Rod and Nicole earlier in the week ...
this would be their first time out on a boat and fishing ...
We had left our boat at Premier Lake after the long weekend ...
Even though it wasn’t a very nice day ... we had to go pick it up ...
We decided to leave the camper on the truck ... just in case the weather turned on us ...
and we needed a dry ... warm place ...
We had a great time ... it was a real learning experience for them ... they were so happy to catch some fish ...
They would love to come back sometime and go again ...!!!
We were getting cold ... so it was time to go ...
Rod offered to help Mike load the boat on the trailer ... Mike backed the truck down the ramp ...
Rod put on the hip waders to avoid getting wet ... the water was cold ...
Mike drove the boat unto the trailer ... it was tricky with the wind and waves ...
I was grateful Rod was there to help out ... !!!
Our original plan was to have a fish fry at the park ... but the weather turned nasty ... so we decided to drive home ...
and cook them up there where it was warm ...!!!
Mike and Nicole decided they needed some martinis to warm up ...
before dinner was ready ...
We ended up cooking the fish in foil on the barbecue ...
I had penne noodles with pasta sauce and corn on the cob ready to be heated ...
a quick salad was made and we were ready to have our dinner ...
Once the dishes were cleared and kitchen cleaned up ...
Nicole and I relaxed with our drinks in the living room ...
while the guys spent their time in the hot tub ...

It was a busy ... thrilling day ... and us ladies were tired ...
We ended up going to bed early ...
Rod and Nicole were leaving early in the morning for home ...

We had a wonderful time and totally enjoyed their visit ...
hoping we can get together again ...!!!

Fishing At Premier Lake ...

November 5, 2016
We had planned on going fishing with the boat ... one last time up at Premier Lake ...
We were thrilled that Denise and Rocko were going with us ...
We were not sure what kind of day it was going to be ... we left home in a heavy fog ...
We all had our fingers crossed that it would clear up ...
When we arrived at the lake it was in total fog as well ...
by the time we got the boat ready to be launched in the lake ... the fog started to lift ...
It turned out to be a beautiful ... sunny warm ... day ...
There were only three boats out fishing this morning ...
and later in the day ... we had the whole lake to ourselves ...
It wasn't long before the first fish was caught ... nice little size Rainbow Trout ...
Denise caught the second one and it was the largest fish caught all day ...
We all caught our limit ... it was fabulous ...
Every time Mike was ready to clean fish ... one of us had another fish ...
We enjoyed cruising around the lake ... taking time to have our picnic lunch ...
with the lines still in the water ... waiting for the next bite ...
Below are some beautiful pictures of the scenery ... the sky was so blue ...
the water so still ... like a sheet of glass ...
Loved the reflections in the water ...
We stayed out on the water ...
until the sun was going down behind the mountains ...
The boat was pulled out of the water ...
our belongings unpacked ... and the boat cover put on ... ready to head home ...
I needed to take one last picture of Premier Lake this year ...
before we drove away ...
We were blessed to have had such a lovely day ...

All the fish were divided up between us ...
Fish and Chips ... was on the menu for tonight's dinner ...
This was the first time that we were fishing in November ...
The boat will be winterized and stored in the next couple days ...
Today being November 25 ... just wanted to send our love ...

2nd Day of Fishing ...

September 13, 2016

Looks like it was going to be another beautiful day ...
watching the sunrise ... as we're pulling out of the harbour ...

The plan was to fish for Halibut again ... putting the anchor down ...
then setting up the gear ...
Unfortunatley ... the Halibut were not biting ... it's been a slow season for all ...
Anchor was lifted ... switched out the fishing gear ...
and we were fishing for salmon ...
Mike landed a beauty ... the guys were so excited ...
Here he is ... with his prize fish ... a 32lb (15kg) Spring (Chinook) Salmon ...
Mike also caught a Ratfish ... that's one ugly fish ... !!!
We continued fishing and were happy to bring in a few more fish ...
a mixture of Spring ... Coho Salmon ...
Back at the cleaning station ... with our catch for this day ...
The guys were thrilled ... it was awesome seeing the smiles on their faces ...
We were surprised with one of the salmon ...
it was a white meat salmon ... apparently a rare specimen ...
So back at the Inn ... to cut up the fish ... package in vacuum sealer bags ...
then put into the freezer ...

We decided to order in dinner ...
of fresh Halibut and chips ... ha ha ... perfect and so delicious ... !!!

We took it easy for the evening ... hanging out and visiting ...
We planned to get up early and head out to try and catch ...
a few more Halibut ...

All in all it was a great day ... !!!

Wishing my dear friend ... Dagmar ...
a Happy Birthday ...
Hope you have a wonderful day ... !!!
Sending love and light ...

Fun On The Water ...

July 14, 2016

It was a beautiful ... calm day to go fishing this morning ...
the kids were so excited ...
as soon as the fishing lines were put in the water ...
it wasn't long before James had caught the first fish ...
and then Ella ... then Craig ...
these fish were hungry for their breakfast ...
Each of the kids used the bonker and place their fish into the water bin ...
to be cleaned later ...
We decided to go to shore ... and stop the boat ... in order to clean the fish ...
it gave the kids time to play in the water as well ...
Each of them taking their turn in cleaning the fish ...
they are becoming well trained fisher people ... !!!
Fish all taken care of and put on ice ...
we decided to have our lunch heading back to the boat launch ...
to pick up the tube ...
Grandpa went up to the truck to bring down the tube ...
attaching it to the boat ...
the kids couldn't wait to jump aboard and go for a ride ...
Oh my goodness ... !!!
Grandpa gave it gas and away they went ...
laughing and yelping ... thumbs up to give it more gas ...
Grandpa goosed it and swerved over the wake ...
and turning in circles ...
and at one point loosing all three kids ...
Good thing I was the spotter ... letting Grandpa know how they were doing ...
They loved every minute of it ... !!!
Grandpa needed a break ...
so the kids just floated behind the boat ...
waiting until they could fly around the lake again ...

We ended up going to the island to have a break ...
the beach there is sandy which gave the kids a chance to play and swim ...
Craig had dug himself a hole ...
and climbed into it ...
Ella helped bury him ... and soon there was only his head exposed ...
It gives me an uneasy feeling ... not sure I would be able to do that ...
It took Craig awhile to pull himself out ... and then he needed to go for a swim ...
to rinse off all the sand ...
We had some snacks and relaxed ...
then off on the water again for a last go around on the tube ...
before heading home ...
We had a delicious meal of fresh panfried Kokanees ...
fresh garden salad and roasted potatoes ...
Everyone was exhausted after our thrilling fun day on the lake ... !!!

Pool Time ...

July 13, 2016

It was a warm day ... perfect for spending time in the pool ...
I had picked up handles for the noodles at the Dollar store ...
the kids had a noodle sword fight ...
having a fun time ...
The grandchildren were amazed at the Robin's nest on the support by the shop ...
hoping to see the eggs hatched within in the next few days ...
Grandpa had dragged out the family Christmas gift ...
hoping to take the tube to the lake the next day ...
First grandpa needed to check out the rope ...
to make sure it would fit on the boat ...
Next it was time to unpack the tube ...
and fill it with air ...
The kids decided that it would be a good idea to put it into the pool ...
and try it out ...
So they all helped packing it over to the pool ...
They had a blast playing on it ...
trying to climb onto it was a challenge ...
and then trying to stay on it was another issue ...
I actually think they made it more complicated than it actually was ...
They sure had a lot of fun ... and were excited to take it to the lake ...
on our fishing and play day ...

This was the first time for Eric & Sharon ...
to fish at this lake ...
They fell in love with it and hoped to return with their families ...
The lake was like a mirror ...

We toured and fished the whole day ...

only stopping to enjoy our lunch ...

Another Fishing Day ...

April 24, 2016

Even though it was overcast and change of rain ...
we decided to go fishing to Premier Lake ...
with our friends Denise and Rocko ...
We had a great day of fishing ... catching our limit in no time ...
The rain held off for us ... we enjoyed our cruise around the lake ...
Our catch brought home ... cleaned and packaged ...
we also shared a few of them with our neighbours ...
and left out a couple to cook up on the BBQ ...
Love my fishing ... especially when I get the big one ... !!!!

Taking A Break ...

April 21, 2016

Earlier posts will be added after this one ...
Just couldn't resist posting this day ... it was so beautiful ... perfect day to go fishing ...
We had been extremely busy with getting things down around the house ...
We headed up to Premier Lake ... on the water by 9:30 am ...
and I believe Mike caught the first fish within 15 min ...
once his fish was in the boat ... my line was hit ...
and I brought in little over a 1pound fish ...
I was fortunate enough to have caught a Brooke Trout ...
These fish were almost to big for our bucket ...
The water was crystal clear ... you could see the fish swimming in the deep water ...
We kept catching fish ... hardly having time to eat ...
We had caught our limit around noon ...
only losing a few and released a couple into the water ...
Once we were home ...
it was time to clean up the fish and package them up for the freezer ...
Leaving the Brooke Trout out for dinner ...
We decided to BBQ this fish ...
stuffing it with fresh parsley and lemons ...
placing it on the grill to cook ... along with a few mushrooms ...
It took about 12 minutes to grill this fish ...
It was done to perfection ...
a lovely dinner to end our perfect day ...
out fishing on a beautiful lake ...

Our Last Boating Day ...

August 27, 2015
Spending time in my garden ...
after our cousins were on their way ...
to travel around BC for a holiday ...

August 28, 2015
We decided to go for a drive ...
to check out the fishing conditions ...
Stopping at Rock Creek to see if the fish were spawning yet ...
the pools looked clear ... therefore we should be able to go fishing tomorrow ...
The smoke from the fires was still really thick ...
could not see the mountains at all ...
We went down to the boat launch ...
and were surprised at how much the water had been drawn down ...
and many fish were floating on the lake as well as washed ashore ...
We went to the Koocanusa Store and chatted with the owners ...
they had said that with the water being drawn to fast ...
it had an affect on the fish ... we later found out that part of the dying fish ...
is from lack of oxygen in the water ...
On our way home from checking out the lake conditions ...
we noticed that the smoke was lifting ...
and we could see the outline of the mountains ...

August 29, 2015
We did decide to take the boat out ...
for one last cruise on the lake ...
and to do a little fishing ... first going down the lake ... and then headed to the bridge ...
The fishing was really slow ... until about 3:00 ... then we started to catch fish ...
Our time was cut short ... with only three fish in the boat ...
a storm ... all of a sudden appeared out of nowhere ...
with difficulty ... we managed to make our way back to the boat launch ...
there were many boats trying to get out of the water ...
the wind was so strong ...
Many of the boaters needed help getting their boats unto their trailers ...
I was grateful that a gentleman helped me with securing the boat on the trailer ...
as Mike drove it on ... !!!
The wind was extreme ... trees were bent over ... tall grass flatten on the ground ...
it was wild ... !!!
Going into the outhouse ... watching the trees swaying ...
just kept saying please trees do not fall on me now ...
this is not how I want to be found ... tee hee ... !!!
Finally safe at home ... watching the storm over the mountains ...
sun shining in the front yard and blue sky appearing in the backyard ...
Crazy weather today ... !!!
These three little Kokanees ...
were the last catch of the season for us ...
Frying up a batch of potatoes and boiling some corn ...
for side dishes ...
made a perfect meal ...
Later going down to the garden to pick a few apples for our dessert ...
It was quite the day for out last boating adventure ...!!!
