Garden ... Picnic ... Pool ...

I was up bright and early on this glorious sunny day ...

While everyone else was still sleeping ... I ventured out to the garden ...

It was wonderful to see all that has grown and ready to be picked ...

I thought a bowl full of fresh strawberries would be perfect for our morning breakfast ...

I couldn't stop ... just so much was ready to be picked ...

I kept working and gathering ripe produce ...

so involved I didn't even hear Fred enter ...

He loved my little garden ... he was quite inquisitive ...

asking questions on how it works ...

We enjoyed our breakfast on the deck ... eating fresh made waffles ...

and fresh strawberries from the garden ...

We had a relaxing day ...

then ventured down the hill to the Mayook School ...

for annual summer picnic ...

The cooks were in the cookhouse busy barbecuing hot dogs ...

hamburgers and grilled onions ...

We had a great time visiting with the neighbours ...

Fred and Michelle were welcomed into our festivities ...

and enjoyed chatting with everyone ...

 

June 6 & 7, 2016

It was already Monday ... we planned to have a day at home ...

relaxing ... swimming ... and whatever else ...

in between Fred & Michelle packing to head back to Ontario the next day ...

We had a wonderful time with our guests ...

hoping they plan to come out for a visit again ... we had so much fun ...

(I do believe they will ... !!!)

 

A Lovely Visit ...

It turned out to be a beautiful day ... perfect for sitting outside ...

visiting with our guests Ed & Nicole from Langley ...

Our neighbours Eric & Sharon plus mom and Joe came to join us ...

Ed & Nicole lived here in this valley ... and later moved to the coast ...

We had a lovely time reminiscing and catching up on all the news ...

Sharon had brought a fresh bouquet of lilacs for our table ...

So beautiful and fragrant ... !!!

 

Cousins Arrive ...

Our cousins arrived from Austria ... then travelling from Calgary to Cranbrook ...

they will be staying at Oma's for the night in their Travel Trailer ...

Mike and I went into town to meet them for dinner ...

at Eastside Mario's Restaurant ...

We had a great time ... visiting and getting to know the new member of the family ...

Christine's husband ... Christian ... !!!

Our family ... made their way to our place ...

to spend time in our neck of the woods ...

they were really excited to go for a ride on the quads ...

The three mature women drove up in the jeep ...

as we did not have enough for all of us to ride ...

We made our way to the top of the ridge ... on moms property ... to mom & dad's favourite spot ...

spending time there reminiscing on good times we had together ...

We were not able to stay too long out in the open ...

the smoke was so thick from all the forest fires in the area ...

After getting back from our adventure ... it was time to jump in the pool ...

they sure had the whirlpool swirling ...

Horst was holding onto mom with a noodle ...

so she wouldn't get sucked into the middle ... tee hee ...!!!

Everyone ... except Horst were out of the pool ... it was time for him to sit back and relax ...

floating on a number of noodles ...

until ... Mike decided to dive into the pool ... and disturb his peaceful time ...

Mike ended up joining him in floating around the pool ...

so relaxing ... !!!!

Horst really enjoyed the quiet time in the hot tub ...

I am sure he was snoozing ... !!!

Juno and Rowdy sure liked all the attention and treats ...

that they were receiving with all the company ...

we have had staying at our place ...

the last while ...

It too bad that the cousins were not able to see the beautiful mountains ...

all around them ...

due to the heavy smoke in the area ...

Another fish fry dinner ...

with all the fixings ...

It was delicious ... once again ... !!!

We had a lovely evening all together ... !!!

A short visit ...

coming to an end ...

Cousins were heading out on an adventure ...

across BC ...

heading north and then travelling to the west coast ...

Hoping they would be able to get away from the smoke ...

and see some mountains ...

Travel safe and see you at the end of your holiday ... !!!

Our friends Pam & Blair ...

arrived to spend a few days with us ...

on their holidays travelling thru to the coast ...

The Knight family stopping for the evening ...

on their way back home from their holiday to Silverwood Amusement Park...

James was showing Pam & Blair his card trick and other magic ...

and then Blair taught him a couple more card tricks...

that he would be able to perform ...

It is with great sadness that Ruckus ...

loving pet of Nathan's family ...

went missing ...

after a long period of searching ...

along with all the neighbours helping ...

he has not returned ...

He will be dearly missed.

Early morning breakfast for everyone ...

before the days activities ...

After a busy day ... cruising around the property ...

we decided to have a Halibut fish fry for dinner ...

Pam & Blair loved it ... !!!

Aug. 5 & 6, 2015

Pam & Blair were excited to spend the day on Lake Koocanusa ...

fishing for little Kokanees ... (Landlock Salmon) ...

Pam was thrilled to have caught a fish ...

now it was Blairs turn ...

We had an excellent fishing day ... catching close to our limit ...

and losing almost as many ...

The weather was beautiful and hot ...

we stopped at the mouth of the Kikomun Creek to go for a swim ...

and enjoy our picnic lunch ...

After fishing ... we went home to take care of the fish ...

get changed and head into town to pick up a few groceries ...

Pam & Blair were heading out in the morning ...

we decided to take the Fort Steel / Bull River loop tour ...

stopping at the waterfalls up the Bull River ... by the Casselman Bridge ...

then continued on our way to the Jaffray Pub ...

for a delicious dinner ... !!!

The next morning our guests packed up the RV ...

and getting the last photo ...

of the two of them on the deck ...

they were on their way to their next destination to Banff ...

Wishing them a trip of many beautiful memories of this area ...

and safe travels ...

Hope they plan on visiting us again in the future ... !!!

 

Cousins Arrived ...

My cousins finally arrived from Austria ...

a day later ...

due to engine issues on their plane ...

Mom picked them up and drove out to the house ...

we enjoyed a lovely afternoon ...

sitting back and relaxing ...

We went down to the garden ...

to gather some produce for dinner ...

Barb and Patricia arrived to take the horses for a ride ...

it is so nice to have the horses here grazing in the field ...

Klaus and Resi brought us gifts from Austria ...

cigars for Mike ...

some of my favourite chocolate ...

a CD of their son's harmonica group ...

and a beautiful hand x-stitched tea towel ...

After dinner ...

we sat outdoors while Mike enjoyed one of his cigars ...

It was an early night for our guests ...

so they would get a goodnights sleep ...

for the next days activites ... !!!

 

Found a Ride ...

 The kids found a ride to grandma & grandpa's house ...

a friend of Katies' was travelling this way and offered to bring the grandchildren ...

As grandpa had some work to do ... we ended up going into town ...

the kids had some money they wanted to spend at the store ...

buying Pokemon Cards and a drawing book ...

We then surprised Oma with a quick visit before heading back to the house ...

The kids wanted to fire up their dirt bikes and quads ... and go for a ride ...

Grandpa decided to start up Uncle Ian's quad and take it for a ride ...

when he stopped to open up the gate  ...

the quad stalled and could not be started again ...

Grandpa had to go get the other quad ...

and Craig went to help tow Uncle Ian's quad back to the shop ...

It turned out the battery was not charged enough to restart it ...

Ella was a great help in the garden ... picking carrots and fruit for dinner ...

the kids then felt it was warm enough to go for a swim ...

After their swim ... they went out to collect firewood ...

to have a bon fire in the evening ...

although we had to for go having a fire ...

as we had quest arrive for a fish-fry dinner ...

We promised them we would have it the next day ...

Friends Stopping By ...

After a long holiday ...  

touring thru the United States ... in their Motor Home ...

leaving from their hometown in Ontario

Dave & Sandy ... 

friends of ours decided to make their way up to our place ...

and stop in for a visit ... 

It had been close to 30 years ... 

since Dave was out here working in the area with Mike ...

We spent a few days together ...

having a great time ... visiting ... reminiscing ... and just hanging out ... !!!

Guests Gone Fishing ...

We decided to go fishing ... had a wonderful day ...
Hugh was the first one to catch a fish ...
It was quite exciting ... Victoria was so happy for him ...
In fact he caught the first three Kokanees ...
My first catch was a Squaw fish ...

We saw lots of birds and wildlife along the shore ...
they were needing to cool off from the extreme heat ...
We brought home quite a few fish ...
Guess what we are having for dinner ... ???

After our day out on the water ...
we ended up jumping in the pool to get refreshed ...
as the thermometer  indicated that it was 100 F (38 C) ... HOT ... !!!
relaxing in the water ... watching the clouds go by ...
then enjoying our dinner of fish ...
and out on the deck for their last evening here ...

Sight Seeing ...

We ended up taking a day ...
touring around the area ... showing our guests the beautiful sights ...
took a drive up to see the Falls on the Bull River ...

Amazing view of the Falls ...
even was brave enough to lean over ...
and look thru the bridge rails ...
to capture a picture straight down ...

it's a long way down ... !!!

 

We had a great day ... took the back road to Galloway ... 

decided to stop and have lunch at the Jaffray Pub ...

then made our way home ... 

to sit back and relax ...

I also had made dinner ahead of time ...

perfect for these busy days ...

This was the first time that Hugh & Victoria had ever eaten ...

Austrian Goulash and Spaetzle ...

It really hit the spot ... after a really wonderful day ... !!!
