A Full Day ...

Grandpa and the grandchildren ... snuggling together ... while I getting breakfast ready ...

it was going to be a busy day ...

All of going to the arena to watch James play hockey ...

A few pictures of James ... this was a playoff game ... 

After hockey we decided to drive into town ... pick up a few craft items ...

then had dinner at the new Plaka Greek Restaurant ... 

The food here was amazingly delicious ... the portions were huge ...

we ended up taking some back home with us ...

It was a lovely evening visiting with the family ...

Congratulations James ...It was an awesome day for him ... Katie had written ... "James received the 'hardest working player' hat!!! So proud of the Flyers!!!"

It's been a few days of awards ... Congratulations Ella ... !!! Katie had written this caption on her post ...

"Ella received 'the bow' for hardest worker ...

at cheerleading today!!!"

 

 

Craig had drawn this awesome Dragon at his art classes ...

We love the detail ... on his drawing ... !!!

Hangin' Out with James ...

 Craig was at a Birthday party and Ella went to a sleepover Birthday party today ...

So ... James and I had the day all to ourselves ...

The first order of business was to gather all the items to be recycled ...

paper ... bottles ... cans and cardboard ...

We took them all to the designated areas ... now at the bottle depot ... there was a long line-up ...

looks like everyone else had the same idea on this beautiful day ...

We decided to go to DQ for an ice cream break ... and then went back to the bottle depot ... 

we were next in line to have all the bottles and cans counted for a refund ...

After all our jobs were done ... we headed into Okotoks to do a little shopping ...

James was also in of a haircut ... so we ended up getting that done as well ... his barber was a unique individual ... and a lot of fun ...

Looking good big guy ...!!!

We travelled back to the house ...

enjoyed out leftover pizza ...

and numerous card games ...

We had a great day ... !!!

Loved spending this 'one on one time' with James ...

We were up early to make our way to James's hockey game in DeWinton ...

It was an extremely foggy morning for driving ...

It took us awhile to find this arena ...

but once we were there ... it was a thrilling game ... and I loved watching him ...

I was delighted that he had scored a goal ...

and had gotten one assist ...

James's team won 7-3 

Craig and Ella were still at their Birthday parties ... 

We would pick them up on our way back to the house ...

to have dinner ... get their homework done ...

and played cards ... 

Tomorrow was another school day ...

so early to bed for everyone ...

I will be taking them to school and then travel back home ...

(and just a little exhausted ... it was busy ... !!!)

 

All In One Day ...

It was an early morning for some of the hockey families ...

a few were a little under the weather ... after last night's Halloween party ...

We enjoyed watching James play hockey ... Oma ... Craig and Ella ...

watching from the enclosed warm area ...

Mike ... Nathan and I were out in the arena ... cheering the team on ...

After the hockey game ... we all travelled to Calgary ...

to meet Vern and Ellen for a late lunch ... early dinner ... at the Edelweiss Village ...

It is a complete European store ... with grocery items ... gifts ... deli ... bakery and restaurant ...

We had a lovely time visiting ... and eating the fabulous meals ...

Once we arrived back at the house ...

it was the to have a birthday celebration for James and Craig ...

We decided to celebrate this evening ... as James had an early morning ...

out of town hockey game ...

and our family would not be making the trip back to Alberta ...

James birthday #11 ... is on November 4 ...

and Craig's milestone birthday #13th is on November 24 ...

Both the boys blew out the candles ...

and soon the gift opening was happening ...

Craig received cash ... as he is saving money to buy a remote control truck ...

He was so happy and thankful ...

and James ... all he wanted was a new skateboard ...

 

James was so thrilled ... it was the exact one he wanted ...

he couldn't wait to try it out ...

a few rolls in the house and then we all had a piece of ice cream cake ...

Even though it was almost 10 o'clock ...

the kids went in the garage to compare the new one with the old one ...

they even had me stand on the boards to check it out ... holding on to me so I wouldn't fall ...

and then James went for a ride ...

down the driveway and onto the road ... with no jackets on ...

 

It was a little chilly for me being out there taking pictures ...

so I left the boys out there riding ...

Oma ... Craig and Ella ... were huddled together ...

watching a movie ...

while Mike and I packed things up to head back home ...

James had left early this morning for his hockey game ...

we had said our goodbyes the night before ...

It was a fun ... busy weekend ... again ...

Hockey Begins ...

And so hockey season begins ...

Made my way to be with the grandchildren for the weekend ...

as Nathan was in northern Alberta in his own hockey tournament ...

We went into town ... to do some shopping at Costco ...

then afterwards we went to the movies ...

to see "The Wild Life" ...

It was a really cute movie ...

 

The kids talked me into going to the pet shop ...

that was next door to the movie theatre ...

We spent quite a bit of time in there ... looking and holding the puppies ... kittens and bunnies ...

It's nice that the pet shop allows you to give them a little loving ...

The kids loved it and I'm certain the animals did as well ... !!!

We made our way back to the house ... for a quiet evening of playing games ...

then early to bed ...

as James had to be at the arena again for more hockey ...

 

Ella spending some time with the little ones ...

They will be seeing each other a lot ...

during the hockey season ...

Craig had spent the night at his friends's house ...

and had the opportunity to go to Calaway Amusement Park in Calgary ...

with the family ... on this day ...

After James had finished with hockey ...

James ... Ella and Ava decided to go swimming ...

at the pool in the same complex as the arena ...

It was public swim time ... so I figured they might as well have fun ...

Once the kids were done with swimming ...

we went back to the house ...

to find Nathan and Craig had both returned home ...

We had dinner ... played a few card games ... did homework and watched a little TV ...

before heading to bed ...

We were all ready to get a goodnight's sleep ...

It sure was busy ... !!!

I would be traveling back home in the morning ...

 

 

 

Back To Mexico ...

We ventured to Mexico this morning ... for the visitor appreciation day celebrations ...

touring around the town ...

and visiting a lot of the booths along the streets ...

While Dave was having dental work done ...

Mike ... Linda and I went to the little Mexican restaurant ...

across the street from the Dental Office ...

We had a great time and the food was delicious ...

With the weather hitting 97 F ... Mike and Linda enjoyed their Mexican beers ...

while I sipped on a large glass of fresh lemonade ...

We were grateful to have had air conditioning in the SUV ...

as we made our way back to Glendale, AZ.

We were back in time to head to the Westgate Entertainment Community again ...

to go watch the hockey game with a few of our friends from Ontario ...

who were also vacationing in Arizona ...

It was wonderful to meet up with them and enjoy the game ...

It was a busy day for all of us ... !!!

 

Action Packed Weekend ...

We decided to go to Alberta ...

leaving around 8:00 in the morning to go watch James hockey games ...

We hoped the weather was going to be good for travelling ...

we encountered a bit of slush and snow covered roads near the border ...

We were surprised when we turned off the #3 highway onto the #22 ...

there we were almost blown off the road with 124 km winds ...

Mike had to have a strong grip on the steering wheel ...

We made it to the arena ... just in time to watch the game ...

James scored the first two goals in that game ...

the kids had a really good game ... !!!

After the hockey game ... I decided to head into Okotoks and go to Costco ...

Craig wanted to come with me ... the rest of them went home ...

we had a fun time shopping and when we were done ...

I wanted to get the Buick washed before heading back to the house ....

It was a sunny day and everyone else had the same idea ...

we ended up having to wait in line for some time ...

So Craig made himself comfortable ... and once we were in the Touchless Car Wash ...

Craig was acting up and making comments ...

as soap and water was covering the car ...

The grandchildren were so excited to receive their gifts from ...

Uncle Ian, Aunt Kendall, Daigen & Nixon ...

money and Pokemon cards ... was perfect ... !!!

Later on we played games ... Grandpa at Twister ...

Grandma in goal playing mini stick hockey with James ...

Family gathering around to watch the UFC fights for part of that evening ...

then venturing over to the next door neighbour to watch the fights with Kyle ...

Kyle had worked for Mike at one time and now is working with Nathan ...

Sunday morning back at the arena to watch another hockey game ...

Ella was busy colouring in the concession area ...

 

Ella had asked me earlier if she could paint my fingernails ... before the Super Bowl game ...

and once we were finished with lunch ...

we cleared the table and she began to paint my nails ...

first with a the pink colour for the base ...

then she proceeded to give each nail an artistic flare ...

with her designs ...

We were all set to watch the Super Bowl game ...

with a few friends that came to have a visit with us as well ...

Lots of Super Bowl finger foods were prepared ...

all set out on the table for everyone to help themselves ...

We were watching the football game ...

while the kids were playing a hockey game behind us ...

It was an exciting game ... there was only 2 of us rooting for Denver ...

the rest of the gang thought that South Carolina would of taken the game ...

We were doing the happy dance when Denver won ... Yippee ... !!!

Mike and I left for home after the game ...

it was a clear night and hardly anyone on the road ...

It was a busy ... fun ... weekend ... !!!

The boys were outside playing in the melting snow ...

it was +7 degrees C in Alberta ...

Looks like they had a fun time ... that snow will be disappearing quick ...

We had rain in our neck of the woods ...

then overnight we had almost 7 inches of snow ... !!!

James was in another Hockey Tournament ...

this weekend ...

The team had won the tournament ... receiving Gold medals

and

James was given the Heart & Hustle award again ...

Tossing Teddies ...

Nathan and the kids went to the Calgary Hitmen ...

annual Teddy Bear Toss ...

When the first Hitmen goal is scored ...

the fans toss already bagged Teddy Bears on to the ice ...

The Teddy Bears are gathered up to be donated as Christmas presents ...

to hospitals and charities ...

There were over 28,000 Teddy Bears tossed that evening ...

This is a wonderful event for the WHL to have this annual event ...

bringing joy to so many children ... !!!

 

 

Action Packed Weekend ...

Oma and I arrived in Alberta on Friday ...

Our Saturday morning began with an early morning soccer game ...

for Ella's team ...

Even though it was a very chilly morning ...

we enjoyed watching this little athlete play ... the team had a lot of fun ...

and they were happy about their victory ...

James was next to play with his soccer team ...

Oma and I did not see his game ...

but we were kept in the loop with the events ...

We were informed that it was a very serious game ...

James scored a goal ... and then he scored again ... !!!!

It was a great day for him as well ...

Oma & I had left the soccer field ...

to go drive into Calgary ...

to watch Nathan play in his hockey tournament ...

we only watched one game ...

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the game ... !!!

Oma was in the restaurant, overlooking the ice rinks ...

watching the game and visiting with our friends ... Vern & Ellen ...

They were kind enough to travel to the arena to meet us ...

Nathan still had a few games to play in the tournament ...

we were unable to watch them all ... as we had to get back to the house ...

and get ready for our evening gala event ...

I was delighted to here that they had won all their games ...

and won the tournament ...

bringing home the Trophy ... !!!

It was time to dress up for our special evening ....

going to the Ballet ... "La Bayadere ... The Temple Dancer "

at the Jubilee Autitorim ...

This was Oma's and my first time ...

seeing a live Ballet ...

What an exhilarating ... magical evening ... !!!

We are thankful that Katie and Ella ...

invited us to come along and go to this production ...

We decided that seeing another one ... is a must ... !!!

Busy Weekend ...

 Oma and I left the morning of Saturday, March 21 ...

to attend Ella's skating carnival ...

It was a beautiful day for traveling ...

 enjoying a lovely lunch  ...

then making our way to the arena to enjoy the show ... !!!

After a wonderful dinner and evening of playing games with the James & Ella ...

everyone went to bed as we had an early morning rise ...

to go watch James #10 play hockey ...

His team had won 2 games and advanced to the finals ...

 Oma & I only watched his second game ...

the final game was later in the afternoon and we planned on heading back home ...

but ... we gave him our best wishes to have a great game ...

Congratulations to the Flyers ... they won the Tournament ... !!!
