Houston Camping Trip ...

Ian & Kendall decided to have a little holiday ...

taking the boys on a camping trip ...

and a chance to ride their new dirt bikes ...

Ian riding on the back of the dirt bike ...

teaching Daigen how to ride his new bike ...

Eventually Ian was able to just go for a ride ...

as Daigen drove him around the sandy area himself ...

Kendall was on the quad and giving Nixon rides ... following Ian & Daigen ...

It was time for a break ...

a what better place to be than up in the tree having a snack ...

After their break ...

it was time for the gang to go out riding again ...

They're looking pretty cool in their outfits ...

Daigen was totally exhausted from riding all day ...

and it looks like Nixon still had some energy to burn ...

Love that they were having so much fun ...

It was time to cool off in the man-made lake ...

while daddy was enjoying a cool beverage and watching his boys in the water ...

and Nixon taking his turn taking "Brutus for a walk ...

They had a great holiday ...

and also celebrated Kendall's birthday ...

Celebrating St.Patrick's Day at a parade ...

getting lots of beads ...

then an exciting Easter Egg hunt ... just look at those baskets ... !!!

Daigen got a job to sharpen 50 pencils .10cents a piece.

He earned $5 for new batteries ...

he was given this job by friends of Kendall's for their Bunko night.

Oh ... happy day when the new dirt bikes arrived for the boys ...

The boys were so excited ...

they helped daddy in the garage ...

to build the dirt bikes and get them running ...

love the training wheels on Nixon's dirt bike ...

and seeing Daigen working on his bike ...

The boys are ready to ride ...

they sure look happy ...

Now daddy will have to take them to the country ...

for Daigen and Nixon to learn how to handle these machines ...

Looks like he is having no trouble riding ...

it was great to see a video of his experience ... !!!

Lunch Time ...

It was close to lunchtime...

and James just loves to help out getting the fire pit ready ...

to cook up some hotdogs ...

Grandpa chopped up some kindling and James gathered some dry twigs ...

to get the fire started ...

The gang came down to the camping area ...

to enjoy their lunch by the fire ...

Ella taking a few minutes to sit and relax on the swing ...

then it was time to roast some marshmallow ... the kids like theirs blackened ...

and I love mine lightly toasted ...

Once the kids were done playing and riding their dirt bikes ...

they wanted to jump into the hot tub ...

before they had to pack up and travel home ...

 

Grandchildren Arrived ...

Waiting for the family to arrive later in the afternoon ...

I decided to do some baking ... 2 pie crusts for Chocolate Pudding Pie ...

and while the crusts were cooling ...

a batch of shortbread cookies were made ...

Then made up the pie filling ...

one pie Sugar-free and the other with Jello Chocolate Pudding ...

The grandchildren were so excited when they arrived ...

they wanted Nathan to get the dirt bikes off the truck ...

so they could go riding ...

and Ella with her first dirt bike (James originally) ...

Today was the day that Ella was going to learn how to ride ...

She did amazingly well ...

for someone that was a little hesitant at first ... it was hard to get her off the bike afterwards ...

It was great to watch all three riding together ... !!!

We played a few games ... a few card games of Uno ... a game of Trouble ...

and a few games of Foosball ...

waiting for Grandpa to get home from his course he was taking in town ...

We had a delicious dinner of Halibut ... caesar salad ...

gnocchi dish with Parmigiano/Reggiano cheese ...

and a baked dish of cheddar/mozzarella cheese gnocchi for the kids ...

(they did try the other dish as well)

Now for dessert ...

before serving individual pieces of pie ...

I had them do a taste test ... "which pie was Grandpas?"

I sliced a piece of each pie ... gave them all forks ... and they tasted one ...

then cleansed their pallet ...

and took a bite out of the other one ...

Nathan was the only one that knew for sure which one was Grandpas ... !!!

The light coloured Chocolate Pudding Pie was Mike's ...

my homemade Sugar-free filling ...

Mike was thrilled to be able to enjoy his favourite pie ... !!!

After our dessert ...

the kids wanted daddy to show Grandpa ...

his new Elk Bugle ...

Demonstrating loudly ... I'm sure the whole neighbourhood heard him bugling ...

but not one elk was in sight ... !!!

(I believe he needs a little more practise)

 

Both Families ...

At the park with Nixon ... playing on the slide ...

Kendall wrote saying ... "It's Halloween on March 1st ... I have ironman/wolverine and 2 ghosts"

So cute the three of them ... !!!

It was amazing to watch the video of Daigen learning how to ride the long board ...

 

It was great to get the pictures of Ella and of the tooth she pulled out ...

Loving James new haircut ... sure looks like his daddy ...

Excited to see him riding it when the kids come here for the weekend ...

Guess James will get Craigs' old bike ...

and Ella will get James' ...

Dirt Bikes & Quads ...

Holiday Monday the group went out on the quads ...

touring the property ...

The grandchildren spent the rest of their time here riding their toys ...

Ella stopping to take a break in the tree fort ...

and keeping an eye on the boys ...

The boys love taking all the different trails ...

thru the bush ...

riding up and down the steep hills ... down the road ...

in the field and out on the Crown Land ...

They had a great time today ... riding and hanging out in the shop ...

I love watching them have so much fun ... !!!

 

All Before Lunch ...

The kids gathered around the kitchen table early in the morning ...

they were so happy to see each other ...

Time to get breakfast cooked ...

Nathan's homemade moose sausages ... and tray of fruit ...

and a pile of waffles on the griddle ...

I believe one of the kids said ..."funny faces" for this picture ...

After everyone was fed up ...

it was time to get the motorized toys out ...

Nathan had brought his rebuilt dirt bike ...

he received this one for Christmas at around 13 years old ...

Ian was excited to get on his racing quad ...

it's been 2 years since he has taken it for a ride ...

James and Ella were taking turns ...

giving Nixon a ride on the little quads ...

they were extra careful with him ... driving very slowly ...

Nixon loved going for the rides ...

Ella took Nixon for a few more rides ...

so James could go on his dirt bike with the other three guys ...

they were heading out for a big ride ...

It was pool time for Ella and Nixon after riding the quad ...

Daigen and grandpa jumped in to join them ...

I remembered that we had a water activity play centre ...

thought I would drag it out for Nixon ...

all the other children had fun playing with it when they were younger ...

Daigen and Craig were checking it out ...

trying to put it together ...

Ian and grandpa came to help them out ...

James was hanging out with Nathan in the pool for a while ...

then he decided to come out and see what was going on ...

It took a lot of extra hands to put this water play centre together ...

I just stood back a smiled ...

was awesome watching all of them ...

All finished ... even put up the umbrella ... the kids had a lot of fun with it ...

The weather was absolutely gorgeous ... blue skies and hot ...

the whole gang decided to go for a swim before lunch ...

it was time for the whirlpool affect ...

everyone running around the pool in one direction ...

to get the current going ...

then once it was swirling ...

they could just hang back and float along ...

Just too much fun ... !!!

While James & Ella were relaxing in the hot tub ...

Craig helped me in the kitchen ...

setting the table for dinner ...

plus he was very creative with the napkins ...

something different for each one of us ...

Craig went into the shop ...

to help Grandpa with the VW ...

chiseling off the old coating on the chassis ...

Craig & James ...

in their new riding gear ...

It was too hot for Craig outside ...

he stayed in and decorated the house ...

blowing up water balloons and with the static ...

he stuck them on the logs ...

I then asked Craig to lend me a hand in the kitchen ...

to bake a cake ...

I needed flour and sugar from the pantry ... he said he would get it ...

the next thing I knew was the flour and sugar were out ...

and so was everything else ...

I'm not sure what possessed him to crawl into the cupboard to get the ingredients needed ...

The heat must have gotten to him ... !!!

After dinner the guys went out to the shop ...

to fire up the sandblaster ...

to start cleaning up the VW ...

Grandpa had all the gear for Craig to try out the machine ...

Nathan and Craig worked away on the old car ...

Once the guys had had enough of working on the old car ...

it was time to play in the pool ...

filling up the water balloons and tossing them around the pool ...

They were having lots of fun ...

Grandpa, Nathan and the children ...

headed down to the lake ...

to go swimming and fish for bass ...

Then later going in for a dip in the hot tub ...

on their last night from visiting us ...

Even though it was only a couple of days ...

they sure were action packed with having fun ... !!!

 

Taking It Easy ...

Nixon ... known as "Motorbike Boy" ...

loves to go for ride with his daddy on the motorbike ...

looks like he may need a larger helmut soon ...

Nothing better than enjoying your dinner by the poolside ...

it sure looks yummy ...

The boys love being in the pool ... and hot tub ...
