After Dinner ...

It felt good to get moving ... after that wonderful meal ...

This place has so many places to go hiking and climbing up the mountains ...

We started on this 6 km hike ...

stopping to check out this new cabin about 3 km up on the trail ...

Making our way back down to the cabin ...

taking a picture of this sign ... indicating that there is a place to stay for hikers ...

who are needing to stop when there is a change in weather ...

We ended up crossing the creek at one point ...

then walking by this monument ...

We were informed that this person had accidentally died working in the wilderness ...

Finally back at the cabin ... ready for some refreshments and dessert ...

Christa had made 3 different types of pastry ...

and an Elderberry sauce to dip them in ...

my favourite was the apple fritter ...

We continued to drink and eat ...

having a wonderful time ... talking ... listening to stories of the our families ...

with lots of laughter ...

It was time to make our way back home ...

at the bottom of the road stood the sign for the park area ...

Mike had also taken a few pictures of old power plant equipment ...

and of the water channel flowing by the homes ...

Traveling along the roadway ...

stopping to take a few pictures of the Almsee ...

The Almsee is known for it's aquatic plant that blooms when there is a sunny spring ...

and it usually lasts about 10 days ... these plants are used quite often in aquariums ...

In Canada it is known as ...

"Elodea Canadensis"...

Canadian Waterweed (Kanadische Wasserpest)

We continued on our way ...

stopping to see the fields of Narzissen ... (Daffodils) ...

In Austria they hold a spring festival in honour of the wild-growing daffodils ...

that decorate the meadows ...

The fragrance of the daffodils ...

is a sure sign that spring is in the air ...

Finally reaching home ... sitting down relaxing over a cool drink ...

and talking about our adventure for this day ...

We had a wonderful time ... !!!

 

Archery Adventure ...

A wonderful day was planned ...

Rudi and Christa came to the house to pick us up ...

to go to the Archery Club (3D BogenSchiessen) in Salzkammergut ...

to spend a few hours ... learning and shooting long bows ...

Andrea really wanted to go along and spend the afternoon with us ...

she thought it would be awesome to try it out ...

After we arrived ... and a few lessons ...

we were on our way on the trek ...

We started on this adventure ... enjoying every moment of the wilderness ...

and the challenge of hitting our targets ...

enjoying a light lunch ...

cold plate of luncheon meat, vegetables with an oil and vinegar dressing ...

served with a variety of fresh bread and pretzels ...

Andrea decided an ice cream Sunday was a better choice for lunch ...

We had a great time playing this afternoon ...

We were driven back to Klaus and Resi's ...

to get ready for our next outing with Rudi and Christa ...

 

Handmade Gift ...

Andrea and Maria wanted to come and see us again ...

at their grandparents house ...

I was surprised to have received a small little package from Andrea ...

inside was a handmade iPhone cover ...

Andrea had spent her time knitting it for me ... she did a great job ...

I was so touched ... Thank you Andrea and Maria ...

It was another beautiful day ...

I decided to take the girls for a walk into town ...

We did go to the cemetery ...

for the girls to water the flowers on their Great-grandparents grave ...

We then walked back to town and stopped for some ice-cream ...

before going back home ...

Mike and I were going to have a special afternoon ...

with our cousins Rudi and Christa ...

 

 

A Beautiful Day ...

We decided to take the day off ... go for a picnic ...

up to the Cherry Lake area ... to visit with friends ...

It was a beautiful day ... stopping to take this picture on the Bailey Bridge ...

of Lake Koocanusa and the mountains ...

Sitting around the campfire ...

eating our lunch ... Mike decide he wanted to cook a smokie ...

instead of the having a sandwich ...

The guys came back from hunting this morning ...

bringing a couple grouse for the spaghetti dinner ...

We were delighted with an invitation to stay for dinner ...

of course we accepted ... !!!

The guys enjoying a visit while Rocko was preparing his famous sauce ...

Denise and I decided to go for a walk ...

checking out some of the pools of water in the creek ...

Always amazed at how crystal clear the water is ...

Enjoying a delicious dinner by the campfire ...

listening to the stories ... having lots of fun and laughter ...

Later a birthday was brought out to celebrate Sandie's birthday ...

a rich triple chocolate cake ...!!!

So happy to have spent the day and evening with our friends ...

this was the last day of camping for the group ...

They will be packing everything up the next day and heading home ... !!!

We couldn't have asked for a better way to end their camping season ...

It was a good day to go for a hike ... in our neck of the woods ...

with a couple of friends.

Love seeing the fall colours ...

and the change to golden yellow with the Larch/Tamarack Trees.

Stopping along the way to take a selfie ...

no one had long arms ... was a little awkward ... !!!

This was the trek for today ... thru Crown Land ...

starting at Lisa's place and hiking around to ours ...

then back to Lisa's ...

Definitely was a good work out ... !!!

 

Hike Around The Lake ...

Hiking trails around the area of Island Lake Lodge ...

Heading on the path ... Oma joined us for a short distance ...

and went back to the lodge to wait for us ...

The view from the other side of the lake was breathtaking ...

A perfect spot to have a bench ... on the other side of the lake ...

to enjoy the view ...

Klaus was amazed at the size of some of the fir ... cedar and larch trees ...

in this old growth forest ...

This larch tree was huge ... guessing to be over 150 feet tall ...

We were in awe of this pristine forest ...

 

This was an amazing day ...

travelling over the mountain on the back roads ...

then hiking around the lake ...

finally making our way home ...

sitting out on the deck to watch this beautiful sunset ...

Absolutely perfect ending to a perfect day ... !!!

 

Heading For The Mountains ...

On our way to Rosen Lake ...

to meet up with the gang ...

there was a cattle drive along the highway ...

Klaus & Resi saw some real western cowboys ... !!!

Reaching our meeting place ...

packing up and ready for the days adventure ...

on the back roads and trails ...

on the search for Huckleberries ...

Stopping on our way up ... travelling about 12km ...

taking a short break ...

Riding on to another area ...

stopping for Klaus and Resi to see the view of Lizard Peak ...

and having our picnic lunch ...

then travelling a few more kilometres ...

to start picking huckleberries ...

The huckleberry picking was sparse ...

we decided to start heading back ...

stopping along the way at another place to pick a few more berries ...

there seemed to be a little more in this area ...

Once we decided we had had enough ...

we ventured down the mountain ... back to the meeting place ...

Loading up the quads ...

Then enjoying some refreshments by the campsite ...

while going over the days adventure ... !!!

This was our trip ...

we actually travelled at total of 45 km ...

a portion of the trip was out of range of coverage on my phone ...

 

We decided to stop at the Jaffray Pub ...

for dinner ...

we were all tired and hungry ...

It was perfect ... no cooking or dishes ... !!!

We had a great day ...

Klaus & Resi loved the adventure ... !!!

 

Off To The Beach ...

Mike and I decided we would venture down to Saunders Beach ...

to let the kids play and go swimming ...

and also for us to a check out Lake Koocanusa for Kokanee fishing ...

Craig was busy digging a hole to secure the umbrella pole ...

he did a great job ...

James & Ella were busy searching for unique little rocks ...

hidden under the water ... 

We were surprised to see our friend Sarah ... who lives in Fernie ...

having a wonderful visit ...

then grandpa found a crayfish ...

and called the kids over to have a look ...

Sarah also showed the kids ...

 how to pet them and put them to sleep ...

Grandpa took the boys on a hike around the lake ...

to see the painted turtles ... fish and other interesting things ...

it took them 2 hours to do the hike ... 

only because they stopped so often to check things out ...

Ella and I stayed and played on the beach ... and in the water ...

waiting for the guys to come back ...

One last swim with Grandpa ... Ella way out in the water ...

and Craig diving into the water off the dock ...

then after stopping in at the Jaffray Pub ... for pizza ...

we to the store down the road ...

to get an ice cream cone for dessert ... !!!

It was a wonderful day out at the park ... !!!
