New Lights for School House ...

Our neighbours had contacted us ... saying that they had some antique light shades given to him ...

and wondered if the Mayook Community wanted them for the School House ...

Mike and Chris had made adjustments to the shades ...

adding chains and hooks to be hung from the fixtures ...

Mike and Chris went down to the Schoolhouse ... to install the new shades ...

new plates for the fixtures were added ...

for the chains to be hooked on ...

All this was completed before the Mayook Christmas party ...

 

Thank you to Michelle and Chris ... for donating the light shades ...

and to Mike and Chris for installing them ...

What a difference they made to the lighting ...

It's wonderful to see Daigen so happy ... we're so excited for him ...

We know how much he enjoys going to school ...

Nixon was happy to stay home with daddy ...

Ian was working from home today ...

First Day at Preschool ...

He spent time here for the summer program ...

Nixon loves all the animals and especially ...

It's hard to believe that we are already at this stage ...

in his life ... !!!

After a busy day ...

the boys had a great time at the play centre ...

I sure wouldn't want to mess ...

Nixon's First Day of Summer School ...

This was Nixon's first day of school ...

in the summer program ... before starting Pre Kindergarten ...

and loving his Ninja Turtle backpack ...

He was so excited ... !!!

Nixon and Daigen at the driving range ...

Nixon apparently swag with all his mite ... to land the ball at the end of the mat ...

so cute ... !!!!

Love Daigen in full concentration mode ... making sure he is lined up to make the shot ...

ummm ... Think he has a bit of his dad in him ... :)

 

Today was "Dad's Day" at Westview ... Daigen's school ...

He was so excited to have his daddy go to school with him ... !!!

Happy to see Ian take some time from work ...

to be able to participate in this school activity ... !!!

It meant a lot to both of them ... !!!

 

Happy Birthday Nathan ...

 

We ended up driving to Alberta ...

to go see the grandchildren in a school ...

Theatre Production ...

then went out for Nathan's birthday dinner ...

I must say his birthday cake was delicious ... !!!

 

The Tricktster Theatre group ...

travel all over the province each year to create shows ...

Each school chooses's it's own theme ...

which they then help develop and create it into a show...

The school's theme was ...

"How to be that Positive Person" ... the Art of Seeing the Other Side ...

with co-operation ... acceptance of others ... working together ... sharing ...

All the classes ...

did an amazing job of performing ...

with the Trickster gang pulling it all together for a 2 hour show ...

all in one week ... !!!

I believe the kids ... and at the audience loved every minute of it ...

was a lot of fun ... !!!

 

Mayook Clean-Up Crew ...

It was that time of year to clean up the Schoolhouse grounds...

bucking up and splitting trees that had been knocked down by the strong winds ...

each of us having a job to do ...

Gathering all the twigs... branches and debris ...

then starting small fires to burn it all up ...

of course stopping for a quick bite to eat ...

roasting hot dogs over an open fire ... 

A crew still raking ... and keeping an eye on the fires ...

 while the others started stacking all the splint firewood ... 

End of the day ...

sitting around the campfire ...

enjoying the company and having a few sociables ... (beer) ...

A job well done ...

the Schoolhouse grounds look great ... !!!

Event Days At School ...

Westview School was holding event days ...

each day the kids had to dress the part ...

Monday was "Crazy Sock Day" ... !!!

Tuesday was "Team Day" ...

Daigen chose his favourite team of Snowmobilers ... !!!

His go to guy is Cam Hicks ...

Cam Hicks was so kind to send Kendall his logo ...

so that she could have it silk screened on his T-shirt ... unfortunately it could not be done ...

so Kendall approached an artist at Traders Village ...

and he was delighted to paint this masterpiece freehand ... !!!

Amazing ... 

Daigen loved his T-shirt ... !!!

Wednesday was "Hat Day" ...

Both boys were dressed in blue ...

as that is Westview's school colour ... !!!

Ian and the boys ... all decked out ...

at the Rodeo Carnival ...

they had a great time ... !!!

Looks like it was a busy day ...

 best buds ... so cute !!!

How blessed this little boy is ...

to have Ian & Kendall as parents ... 

along with his little brother Nixon by his side ...

A Full Activity Day ...

November 21, 2014

After taking Daigen to school ... we went for a coffee break ...

Nixon had to bring "Dave" who he calls Banana Boy ...

Nixon loves playing with him and mimicking all the sounds he makes ... 

We were invited to attend the Thanksgiving recital at Daigen's school ... 

half the group were Pilgrims trading a bead necklace  ...

to the Native Americans for an ear of corn ...

Nixon had fallen asleep and missed out on most of the activities ...

We had a wonderful luncheon ... being served turkey and all the trimmings ...

the children made a few of the side dishes ...

It was a pleasure meeting Daigen's teachers ... !!!

We ended taking the children to Monkey Business ...

a facility ... that had all the large blow up play centres ...

It was wild ... the kids had so much fun ...

perfect way to burn up their cooped up energy ... !!!

Nixon needed help climbing up on the steps from both of us ...

Daigen had no problems on his own ...

Oma and I had an issue with just trying to stand in one place ...

 while the kids bounced around ...

This facility had a lot of things for the kids to do ...

Daigen wanted to play the Air Hockey game ...

he was hoping Grandma had a few coins to play a couple games ...

The boys did extremely well and had a lot of fun ... !!!

They wanted to keep playing ... but us adults were worn out ... 

it was time to go home ... !!!
