Almost Done ...

It was another beautiful sunny day ...

we decided to go and cut up the logs that we had dragged into the field ... 

once we finished with this load ... we headed up the hill ...

Cutting up a couple loads of pine ...

wider pieces were cut short and split ... (too heavy to keep them long)

and the rest were cut in longer lengths ... 

We are getting close to filling the woodshed up ...

probably one more good day of cutting ...

and splitting ...

I think should do it ... !!!!

A Birthday Party ...

Ella and her little girlfriends ...

having a great time ...

at her birthday party ...

It looks like they had a beautiful fun day ... !!!

An Easy Delicious Meal ...

I have had this recipe in kitchen for quite some time ...

and since I had a few extra zucchinis ...

thought I would try it out ...

Oh my goodness ... it was so easy and so delicious ... !!!

I will definitely make this meal again ... !!!

Enjoy the recipe ... 

Teriyaki Salmon with Zucchini

Ingredients

•  Teriyaki sauce

•  2 (6-ounce) salmon fillets

•  Sesame seeds

•  2 small zucchini, thinly sliced

•  4 scallions, chopped

•  Oil  (Canola, vegetable, coconut butter)

Directions

Combine 5 tablespoons teriyaki sauce and fish in a zip-top plastic bag. Seal and marinate 20 minutes.

Toast sesame seeds in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, and set aside.

Drain fish, discarding marinade. Add fish to skillet, and cook 5 minutes. Turn and cook for 5 more minutes over medium-low heat. Remove from skillet, and keep warm.

Add the zucchini, scallions, and 2 teaspoons oil to skillet. Saute 4 minutes, or until lightly browned. Stir in 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, and serve with salmon.

A cold ... frosty night ...

the house needed to be warmed up ...

best way to give it some heat .... was to bake some cookies ... 

I then decided to make a pot of soup to warm our bellies for lunch ...

 a delicious ... hearty ... 

9 Bean Vegetable Soup ...

served with Asiago Cheese and garnished with parsley ....

mmmmmmm 

After lunch I went out to salvage what I could from the garden ...

the frost hit us all hard up here ...

Thank goodness I covered up my tomatoes ... green peppers and Eggplant ...

only two tomato plants were affected from another area in a raised bed ...

all the others survived ...

I picked a few of the fallen and ripe tomatoes ... and brought them in the house ... 

Covered up the plants again as the forecast ...

was calling for more frost again ...

Keeping my fingers crossed ... 

Nicer ... warmer weather is on the way ... !!!

The first week of September ...

my garden was exploding with produce ...

Hoping that the weather was going to stay warm ... !!!!

Rainy Day Project ...

It was the perfect day to tackle this job ...

removing this piece of furniture ...

and replace it with moms buffet and hutch ... but before we moved it in ...

I decided it was time to paint the room as well ... 

Mike and I packed in the buffet and hutch unit ...

that had been stored in the garage ...

cleaning and polishing it up ...

and then moving all the dishes and items into it ...

Love how it looks ...  thank you mom ... !!!

 After completing the task in the small kitchen area ...

it was time to go outside and cover up all my vegetables ...

as there was a chance of frost tonight ...

Also picked cucumber ... zucchini and strawberries ... !!!

I will be so happy once summer comes back ...

allowing the veggies to continue ripening ... !!!

The children were excited to go fishing and have a picnic ...

James was thrilled that he caught the first fish ...

Ella is the Queen of Bonking the fish ...

they all took turns reeling them in the boat ...

We caught a lot of little ones that we had to release back into the lake ...

the larger fish were sparse ... as they are getting ready to spawn ...

Since it was a slow day fishing ...

the kids decided to go for a swim ...

jumping off the back of the boat ... floating and swimming around with grandpa close by ...

Well ... it was a good thing we went out early this morning ... 

to go fishing and for the kids to go for a swim ...

the weather turned ugly ... a storm blew in ... 

we scurried to put up the sides of the canopy to protect us from the rain ...

the boys helped Grandpa with steering the boat ...

back to the boat launch ...

it had stopped raining by the time we got there ...

We decided to have our picnic lunch at Surveyors Beach ...

the kids were able to go swimming and play in the sand ...

James and Grandpa took the fishing rods ...

 to catch Bass ... as they walked around the lake ...

Craig and Ella didn't want to go ...

so we played a few games in the sand ...

X's and O's and Hangman ...

It was a fun day ... !!!

Keeping Busy ...

The grandchildren were up early and outside ...

I told them they could have a bonfire in the morning and tonight if they wanted it ...

since we were not able to have it last night ...

Busy little creatures this morning ... riding bikes ... quads ... dirt bike ... in the garden ... 

and starting the bonfire ...

Come lunch time ...

the coals were perfect for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows ...

mmmmmmmmm

James and Craig off riding their biked again ...

James decided that they needed a ramp to jump off ...

they packed the bricks and board and built it ...

and away they went ...

Later in the afternoon ...

Craig was helping Grandpa in the shop with the VW ...

Ella was waiting at the parts washers ... ready to clean any of the parts ...

Then a little girl from the neighbourhood ...

came to play with Ella ...

they had so much fun in the pool ... crafting then playing with the kitchen set in the basement ...

The kids found the old rope that was once tied to the tree ...

an old tire and wanted grandpa to put it up on the branch for a swing ...

They were all pushing and then chasing the tire ...

then grandpa decided he would take it up on the hill and let it go ...

it was hilarious watching them chase after it ... far into the field ...

grandpa felt sorry for them trying to bring it back up ...

that he went and got the quad to pick them up ...

When the boys were outside playing ...

I had started making a batch of cookies ...

Ella came in and helped shape ... and decorate them before putting them into the oven ...

a special treat to have at the bonfire ...

Sitting around the fire ...

chatting about the days activities ...

sipping on hot chocolate and eating fresh baked shortbread cookies ...

A few hours later ...

we were all ready to head inside ... and get ready for bed ...

and luckily ... just in the nick of time ...

as the rain started to fall ...

Found a Ride ...

 The kids found a ride to grandma & grandpa's house ...

a friend of Katies' was travelling this way and offered to bring the grandchildren ...

As grandpa had some work to do ... we ended up going into town ...

the kids had some money they wanted to spend at the store ...

buying Pokemon Cards and a drawing book ...

We then surprised Oma with a quick visit before heading back to the house ...

The kids wanted to fire up their dirt bikes and quads ... and go for a ride ...

Grandpa decided to start up Uncle Ian's quad and take it for a ride ...

when he stopped to open up the gate  ...

the quad stalled and could not be started again ...

Grandpa had to go get the other quad ...

and Craig went to help tow Uncle Ian's quad back to the shop ...

It turned out the battery was not charged enough to restart it ...

Ella was a great help in the garden ... picking carrots and fruit for dinner ...

the kids then felt it was warm enough to go for a swim ...

After their swim ... they went out to collect firewood ...

to have a bon fire in the evening ...

although we had to for go having a fire ...

as we had quest arrive for a fish-fry dinner ...

We promised them we would have it the next day ...

Still Getting Wood ...

Today we spent the time splitting and stacking firewood ...

so grateful that our neighbour has offered us his wood splitter ...

sure makes the job easier to complete ...

It was the perfect day for getting more wood ...

so we decided to buck up a few of the pine logs we had ...

 in our stored load of firewood ...

Taking a break from the firewood ...

and pulling out the onions and garlic ...

setting them out to dry ...

before bringing them into the house ...

Good thing I started dinner ...

before heading out to split and cut wood ...

making a pot of moose stew in the slow cooker ...

was a delicious meal after a hard days work ...

Another Days Activities ...

I was surprised when I looked out the window ... and saw a flock of grouse ...

at least a dozen of them ...

on the front lawn ...

I tried to sneak out the door to get a better picture ...

but as soon as I unlocked the door  ...

they flew away ...

it sounded like little motors starting ... !!!

We had been having issue with the well for awhile ...

where the water would just stop flowing ...

and then after a couple minutes would start again ...

so we had the well guys come out to the house ...

and Mike wanted them to pull the pump up and check it ...

There was a problem with the check valve ...

so that was replaced and we have not had any problems since ...

It was quite interesting watching them working ... 

lowering 285 feet of pipe and wire down into the hole ... !!!

Crafting with Friends ...

Daigen ... Nixon and the Jennings Family ...

creating masks ... getting psyched up for Halloween ...

Then sitting on the diving board enjoying a snack ...

after swimming ...

They had a fun day playing ... !!!
