Cruisin' in the 32 ...

Ian sent these photos ... taken on December 22, 2016 ...
He finished the roof ribs and installed a temp canvas top ...
Ian also cut and installed windows all around ...
We're still amazed at the work he has done on Kendall's car ...

On December 28, 2016 ...

Ian ... Kendall ... Daigen and Nixon ...

made their way to Galveston ... in the 32 ... for a special Christmas surf trip ...

Apparently the beach was in a fog ...

but it wasn't going to affect them ... on this special family adventure ...

Off To The Movies ...

December 27, 2016

We had a lot of things to do today ... first order of duty was to have breakfast ...
then clean up the kitchen ... so grateful the kids were willing to help out ...
We were going to head into town ... for the 12:00 matinee ... to see the 3D movie "Sing" ...
(I really wanted to see this movie ... !!!)
We arrived at the movie theatre ... bought out treats of popcorn and drinks ...
proceeded to get our glasses and find our seats ...
all ready for the movie to begin ...
It was an awesome movie ... we all loved it ... !!!
After the movie ... we went to visit Oma ...
this was going to be the last time Oma would see ...
Rob ... Cindy and the grandchildren this year ...
Ella was delighted to have received a little black vest that belonged to Oma ...
hard to believe that she fits into her clothes and shoes ...
Look out Oma ... she will be raiding you closet now ... !!!
The hue glasses and heart are a lovely touch to her outfit ...

We were back in time to have dinner ... then head outside to go GT'ing and sledding ...
before it was too dark and cold to play outside ...

Craig wanted to go to the shop to work on the VW with grandpa ...
with being so busy thru the holidays ...
he was bound and determined to get at least a few hours of shop time ...
He was loving every minute of it ... !!!

It's wonderful seeing the two of them working together ...

The rest of us were in the house ... playing games ... watching TV ...
and relaxing after our busy day ...
I also had the privilege of having Miss Ella ... give me a few new hairdos ...
she loves to braid long hair ...
and ... I must say she is really good at it ... !!!

New Home for VW ...

November 28, 2016

The sun was shining and no rain in the forecast ...
we decided to finish erecting the car shelter ...
All the hardware needed for the next step ...
was laid out ...
Mike pounded in the stakes to hold the frame down ...
The end and front pieces were attached first ...

The main cover was unrolled flat on the ground ...
2 bars were put thru the pouches ... and then 2 ropes were attached ...
The ropes were flung over the frame ... and Mike an I pulled on the ropes ...
to raise the tarp over the frame ...
Once that part was done ... we move inside to finish tying it down ...

The bars were put thru the channels ... brackets attached ...
then the ends were tightened ... using the rachets ... pulling the straps ...
The shelter was now ready ...
for the VW and parts to be put inside ...

It took us a couple hours to complete this project today ...

Another Shelter Needed ...

November 26, 2016

Well ... it was decided that another car shelter was needed ...
as the shop was getting a little crowded ...
Mike would like to put the VW chassis out under this shelter ...
along with some of the parts that will be needed at a later time ...

We ran out of time to put the cover over the frame ...
it was to cold to work with it ...

We hope to finish it within the next couple days ...
hopefully it will warm up a little ...

Switching Car Body ...

November 23, 2016

Mike had been talking to some of the guys in town ...
They all think the value would be more ... and he should still restore the original body on the VW ... I totally agree ...
Sooooo ... Mike moved the gold body out with the quad ...
taking it back up to the storage site ...
I came up with the tractor ... Mike attached the straps around the body ...
then I proceeded to lift it up off the trailer ...
and Mike helped with walking it over to set it on the ground ...
We then went to where the original body was ...
Again Mike attached the straps to lift it off this trailer ...
It was then lifted and walked over to the little trailer ...
I then started to lower it onto to the trailer ... very carefully ... stopping when Mike asked me to ...
so that he could make sure it would be set down where it needed to be ...

Once the blue VW body was on the trailer ...
we picked up the gold VW and moved it over to be set on the trailer ...

Mike then hooked up the quad to the little trailer ...
and brought it down to the shop ...

Upon visual inspection ... this one is going to require ...
a lot more work ... !!!

Removing Parts ...

November 21, 2016

These pictures were taken before Mike moved the VW ...
Showing the gas and brake pedals are on ... along with the gear shifter ...
The motor all installed ... now it just needs the body ...
Mike started to remove some of the parts ...
taking a closer look at what needs to be done ...
It's going to take some time to get the work finished ...

VW Body Next ...

November 21, 2016

Mike rearranged the shop ...
moving the VW chassis to the front of the shop ...
the tractor was moved to where the VW was ...
and now the VW body can be moved in to the hoist side ...
This should make it easier for Mike to work on it ...
It took a little time to get it situated just right ...
Mike will be inspecting it to see what needs to be done ...

Nixon Working ...

November 6, 2016
I
Nixon helping daddy in the garage ... learning how to use the air gun ...
working on the tires ...

This little guy is a busy one ...
now taking time out to do some yoga with mom ...
Ian calls him his "little yogi" ...

I chuckled when I received this message from Ian ...

"Took mom's 32 for a few beers while she's at a jewelry party.lol"

This was my reply ...

"Luv it … !!! You worked hard getting “mom’s” car ready for the road. Have fun … !!! luv u " ...

We got word later ...

that the family took a trip down to Galveston ...

in the 32 Ford ...

The kids loved it ... buckled up in the backseat ...

Finally Rolling ...

October 30, 2016

The 32 Ford is finally on the road ...
a labour of love for Ian ... for the love of his life ... Kendall ... !!!

Ian received this 1932 ford that was just parts and far from complete.
He had to travel to trade shows and swap meets to get enough parts to build the car.
Then many parts had to be made, fabricated or modified to assemble the car.
A Mustang V8 engine added and the Hot Rod is on the road.
This is a very difficult project to complete showing Ian's skill as a trade craftsman.
Great job Ian !!!

Headers on the 32 Ford ...

October 1, 2016

Ian finished up the headers ...
it took him a bit of work ...
to convert them from a big block Chevy ...
to the small block Ford ...

Love seeing the pictures ...
of the progress on this restoration ...

Metal Work Done ...

September 11, 2016

Ian has been working hard on the 32 Ford ...
He finished putting in the floor ... and making the transmission tunnel cover ...

Ian is quite the craftsman ... constructing this out of a sheet of metal ...

Here Ian made the shifter and attached it ...

I believe that Nixon wanted this to be the knob on the shifter ...

Can't wait to see what Ian will do next on the Ford ...

VW Motor Assembly ...

August 10, 2016
Mike was busy in the shop ...
the motor reassembly now in progress ...
pedals and carburetor cleaned and painted ...
and new brake lines installed ...
Continuing the assembly of the engine ...
Parts from Brazil do not fit perfectly ...
so adjustments took a bit of time ...
The new flywheel was installed ...
as well as the clutch and pressure plate on the motor ...
The motor was installed back on the pan (chassis) ...
plus the brakes were adjusted ...
and ready for wheels ...
Won't be long now before the tires will be put on ...
and it will be ready to roll out ...
in order for Mike to work on the car body ...
