Off To The Movies ...

December 27, 2016

We had a lot of things to do today ... first order of duty was to have breakfast ...

then clean up the kitchen ... so grateful the kids were willing to help out ...

We were going to head into town ... for the 12:00 matinee ... to see the 3D movie "Sing" ...

(I really wanted to see this movie ... !!!)

We arrived at the movie theatre ... bought out treats of popcorn and drinks ...

proceeded to get our glasses and find our seats ...

all ready for the movie to begin ...

It was an awesome movie ... we all loved it ... !!!

After the movie ... we went to visit Oma ...

this was going to be the last time Oma would see ...

Rob ... Cindy and the grandchildren this year ...

Ella was delighted to have received a little black vest that belonged to Oma ...

hard to believe that she fits into her clothes and shoes ...

Look out Oma ... she will be raiding you closet now ... !!!

The hue glasses and heart are a lovely touch to her outfit ...

 

 

We were back in time to have dinner ... then head outside to go GT'ing and sledding ...

before it was too dark and cold to play outside ...

 

Craig wanted to go to the shop to work on the VW with grandpa ...

with being so busy thru the holidays ...

he was bound and determined to get at least a few hours of shop time ...

He was loving every minute of it ... !!!

 

It's wonderful seeing the two of them working together ...

 

The rest of us were in the house ... playing games ... watching TV ...

and relaxing after our busy day ...

I also had the privilege of having Miss Ella ... give me a few new hairdos ...

she loves to braid long hair ...

and ... I must say she is really good at it ... !!!

 

Christmas Day ...

After all the gifts were opened ... it was time to start making breakfast ...

the kids were busy building with their mini lego sets ... 

Then Craig sat with grandpa for a bit ... checking out the R/C car ...

Ella helped prepare the fruit plate and set the table ...

I was busy cooking bacon and making waffles for our Christmas breakfast ...

Breakfast dishes were cleared ... Nathan and James were taking turns ... 

in mastering flying the drone ... and taking videos with its camera ...

Rob and Cindy decided to check out their scratch lottery tickets ...

all the kids large and small were busy helping with the scratching ... and every once in a while you heard woo hoo .... !!!

Mike was still not doing well ... so Rob was going to take Mike to the hospital ... 

so that I could get our Christmas dinner prepared ...

Nathan stayed home so that he could take the kids out sledding ...

and then take some time to relax in the hot tub to ease their aches and pains ...

We spent the day playing and getting our dinner together ...

Craig ... James and Ella helped with putting up the extra table ...

 and then setting the tables for our Christmas festivities ...

Rob had called from town saying that they were going to pick up Oma and Joe ...

then were on their way home ...

I then informed our neighbours Don and Bonnie ... 

to make their way down to the house ... as they wanted to make sure that Mike was ok ...

before they came down to join us for dinner ...

Nathan had taken over carving the turkey duties ... all the other dishes were set up on the island ...

once again it would be buffet style in this household ...

We had a lovely time ... visiting with our family and friends ... 

It was a very Merry Christmas ... !!!

 

 

Outdoor Activities ...

It was going to be a beautiful sunny day ...

perfect for another play day ...

James was so excited that we were going to have a campfire ...

to cook hot dogs and roast marshmallows ...

He loves to take care of the fire ...

Ella had fun playing on the swings and hanging out ...

Oh my ... we had so much fun ... the kids love when we take goofy pictures ...

grandma always wants nice ones except for this day ...

Everyone was so hungry from playing out in the snow ...

that there was nothing left to cook over the fire ...

or snack on ...!!!

Okay ... now that they were all fueled up ...

it was time to put air in the big inner tube ... tie it up to the quad and then the snowmobile ...

to be dragged around the field ...

They had so much fun ... the laughter could be heard thru the valley ...!!!

 

Playing Out In The Snow ...

Today was going to be a play day ... bringing out the snow racers ...

ago be pulled behind the quads and snowmobiles ...

Ella was determined to make it down the hill ...

without crashing ...

The kids took a break from sledding ...

and went into the shop to work on some old electrical equipment ...

actually tearing an old radio apart ...

Craig is really interested in seeing how things work ...

Ella figured she would just play ... with the bubble wand ...

blowing bubbles all thru the shop ...

Nathan took James around the track ...

a few more times before it was time to have dinner ...

Earlier this morning ...

we were lucky enough to see a rainbow ... we called it a "snowbow" ...

with the sun shining thru the ice crystals ...!!!

 

 

Ringing in the New Year ...

December 31, 2014 & January 1, 2015

Grandpa had a surprise for New Year's Eve ...

he bought a box of fireworks ...

to bring in the New Year with a bang ...

Our day was spent playing outside ... the kids loved going for rides ...

around the driveway and field ...

they had so much fun ...

We were all ready for midnight to arrive ...

Ella & I got into our PJ's ... 

and put a few snacks together before heading outside ...

The countdown was on ...

time to go outside and set up the fireworks ...

the kids were so excited ...

they spent the time playing in the snow ...

until the stroke of midnight ...

Happy New Year .... !!!

The boys had a blast ... it was a little to close and noisy for Ella ...

we went up closer to the house ...

After the fireworks display ...

the boys talked Grandpa into going for a few more laps around the driveway ....

being pulled behind the quad ...

After all the excitement ...

we had a nightcap and all were tucked into bed ...

They were three tired amigos ... !!!

So Many Things To Do ...

December 29 & 30, 2014

As soon as we arrived at the house ...

the kids wanted to go out to the shop ...

to put Grandpas Quad & Bike Stand together ...

Well ... somebody had ants in his pants this morning ...

we told him we were going to tie him to the chair ...

and he said "ok lets do it" ...

so Grandpa went and got his belt and fastened him to the chair ...

he sat there until we were finished out breakfast ...

You can see that he was really upset about this ... he couldn't stop laughing ...

and neither could Craig and Ella ...

(there was a time their daddy and Uncle Ian had this done as well)

The kids could hardly wait to get outside to go sledding ...

down the driveway ...

Kita, the neighbours dog ... wanted to get into the action as well ...

she loves when the kids come ...

then the boys talked Grandpa in going for a sled ride ....

"Hold on Grandpa we're going to give you a push ... "

I was laughing so hard ... I could see the fear in his eyes ... !!!

We were invited to our friends Ramona and Glen's place for dinner ...

along our travels up the mountain road to the house ... the sun was starting to set ... 

and oh my goodness it was so beautiful ...

I asked Mike to stop to take a few pictures ... 

I had to hurry as the horses were heading towards the truck ... 

We were in awe of the house when we finally arrived ... was amazing ...

We had a delicious meal which included ... 

some of Glen's wild boar that he hunted in Hawaii ...

The kids had a great time playing ... and looking at all the critters that Glen had ....

all around the house ...

They really liked their big Newfoundland dog Kuma ...

he was like a cuddly bear ...

What an eventful awesome day ... !!!

Craig was the only one who hadn't fallen asleep ...

on the long ride home ... !!!
