Headers on the 32 Ford ...

October 1, 2016

Ian finished up the headers ...
it took him a bit of work ...
to convert them from a big block Chevy ...
to the small block Ford ...

Love seeing the pictures ...
of the progress on this restoration ...

Metal Work Done ...

September 11, 2016

Ian has been working hard on the 32 Ford ...
He finished putting in the floor ... and making the transmission tunnel cover ...

Ian is quite the craftsman ... constructing this out of a sheet of metal ...

Here Ian made the shifter and attached it ...

I believe that Nixon wanted this to be the knob on the shifter ...

Can't wait to see what Ian will do next on the Ford ...

Assembly Continues ...

July 6, 2016
The motor and transmission ...
have been installed ...
next the new air intake filter was added to the motor ...

Ian then put on the radiator with the antiqued cowling ...
to cover it ...

It's a bit strange seeing the gas tank ...

on the outside of the car ...

The floor and transmission cover have not been installed ...

inside the cab yet ...

Kendall's Car ...

May - June 2016
Ian decided it was time to work on Kendall's car ...
They were given this 1932 Ford Model B Mustang ...
from Kendall's dad ...
which originally belonged to Barry's grandfather ...
It was going to be a big project ... but Ian was excited to get it done ...
In May Ian and his family also received their Green Cards ...
these give them permission to stay in the United States as long as they want to ...
no more worrying about getting Visa's to work in the USA ...
Ian is very talented in the fabrication of parts ...
He ended up making custom bent spindles ...
and the rear end mounted with trailing arms ...
When Ian had sent these pictures ...
this is what he had written ... and it touched my heart ...
"Thought you would like to see Opa's hammer ...
I've been using to build the car as well as his plaque always looking over the build."
On June 11 ... Ian sent these pictures ...
"Finally mounted the rad, utilized some new old stock clips from Ernie's Auto body. Also made a mount for the power rack and pinion."
On June 21 ...
Ian had made custom shock mounts ...
We are so excited for Ian & Kendall ...
can't wait to see it done ...
Of course it still has a long way to go ...
I do believe he will get the 32 done before Mike finishes the VW ...
they both love tinkering with cars ...

Time To Rescue the VW ...

July 9, 2014
Craig is bound and determined ...
to resurrect my sister's VW ...
which has been a project of Mike's to do ...
once he had time to work on it ...
Well it seems ... NOW ... is the time ... !!!

First of all ... they needed to find tires that would fit the rims of the VW ...
the tires were found in the pile out behind the shop ...
Grandpa and Craig switched them over ... only to find that those tires had a small pin hole in them ...
they decided these tires were still better than the flattened ones ...
as long as they would hold the air in them ...
until the VW was in the shop ...
and put on the hoist ...
You can see how busy James and Ella were ... TV and snacks ... lol

After a busy day of work ...
it was time to chill out ...
with watching a movie and popcorn ...
I had remembered that we still had the manual for the VW ...
on the book shelf ...
Grandpa and Craig searched for more information on the computer ...
on how to remove the car body from the chassis ...
This was on the project for the next day ... !!!!

Going To The Faire ...

So excited to be going to the Faire ...
to see my dear friend Dagmar ...
She is sharing a booth with Cindy to display and sell ...
some of their vintage treasures ...
that they have accumulated over the past year or more ...

I wonder what treasures I will come home with ... !!!

Around The Corner ...

What a find in the quaint little town of Eureka ...
walking along ... checking out the stores ...
a sign caught my eyes ...
Antique Store ... just around the corner ...
and it was ... down an alley ...
"Around The Corner Antiques & Art"
I believe I was guided and was meant to walk into this place ...

Some of the items outside ... she lives in the house on the other side of the fence ...

The door was locked ...
a sign said to push a call button ...
from the backyard of this little shop ...
this dear lady ... slowly went to the back of the building ... and unlocked the door ...
and welcomed me in ...
she had some real treasures in there ...
I looked around at the items she had ... then this book caught my eye ...
I was really drawn to it ...
I started talking to this lady and found out that she is the one that had written it ...
Alicia R. Edwards is her name ...
an amazing women ...
she is also an artist ... she had numerous paintings hung in her shop ...
a former concert pianist ... and now a writer ..
and she was just finishing up writing her second book ...
sitting in her backyard when I arrived ...
I was overwhelmed ...
Mrs. Edwards is 88 years old ...
and is writing her life story ... she was born and raised in Eastern Poland ... until the age of 16 ...
when war broke out  ... Alicja and her family were sent to Kazakhstan into forced labour for 3 yrs ...
she also spent time in Iran ... met her husband and moved to the states ...
her book "And God Was Our Witness"
tells the story ...

Alicja Edwards has gone to many schools and libraries here in our area to talk about her life...
She is a special women ... I was grateful to have met her ...
I will make a point in stopping by to say hello ...
the next time I travel that way again ...
our paths were meant to cross
a new friendship transpired ...
