Mike stopped in to see Jake, Maren and the girls ...

on his way home from Fort St. John ...

The girls were really excited to see Uncle Mike ...

They had a great visit ... !!!

Sitting back and relaxing ...

enjoying the warmer weather ...

this was the first time she had met him ...

It was so nice to receive this little Thank you note ...

Some of the happiest times ... were watching dad play ...

his guitar or accordion ... and sing ... !!!

Sometimes when we were all together ...

it was a real treat when dad ...

began to yodel ... !!!

Everyone loved to listen to him.

Grateful to have all these special memories ... !!!

 

Nephew and Family Arrive ...

It was nice to see Nathanael, his wife Amada, daughter Natasha and Tanya ...

This was their first visit to our place ...

They picked the perfect weekend ...

as this was the long weekend and the Doogie Boogie ...

our annual neighbourhood Music Fest ...

Amada and Tanya were happy to talk to others that spoke Spanish ...

They were in awe of the whole event ...

especially sitting by the fire ...

and enjoying the music ...

The following day ...

we took the quads and toured around the property ...

Nathanael and Natasha were eyeing up the old Apple II GS computer ...

wanting to get it fired up and play some games ...

Everyone enjoyed having a bonfire ...

and roasting hot dogs and marshmallows ...

Mike was getting the little quad started ...

so that Natasha could try it out ...

she was very cautious ... but had fun riding it ...

After lunch ... we went on a valley tour ...

stopping at the fish hatchery in Bull River ...

then making our way on the dirt road ... up to the falls just below the dam ...

It is a breathtaking view from up there ...

we then headed towards Fort Steele and into Cranbrook ...

showing them as few of the sites there ...

Enjoying a nice dinner and then heading home ...

with one last dip in the hot tub to end their trip ...

It was a busy weekend ... having lots of fun visiting with family ... !!!

 

Not Working ... Gone Fishing ...

Beautiful Premier Lake ...

with it's crystal clear waters ...

We had a lovely time at the lake ...

even though the fishing was slow ...

I did manage to catch a 3 lb Rainbow Trout ...

It was a busy ... relaxing day ...

cruising all around the lake ... !!!

The fish all cleaned ...

and vacuumed sealed for freshness ...

Also went down to the garden ...

to pick the first batch of radishes ...

along with some lettuce for dinner ...

Awesome day ...!!!

Morning Craziness ...

The kids arrived late the night before ...

breakfast was very interesting this morning ... posing for photos ...

Every time I wanted a nice picture ...

they would turn goofy ...

Making silly faces ... !!!

James and Ella couldn't wait to go into the hot tub ...!!!

It was a beautiful day ...

Once again ... the silliness of posing for pictures ... !

It's hard to believe that they still love to ride these old bikes ...!!!

While Nathan was busy ...

fixing dirt bikes and packing up the travel trailer ...

to head out for the long weekend ...

camping in the mountains ...!!!

It had been a while since the kids had seen Grandpa ...

He had just arrived home on Thursday from working out of town ...!

The kids giving hugs ... saying good bye to grandpa ...

before they headed out on their adventure ... !!!

 

 

 

Visitors During Lunch ...

Mike was on his way home ... from working up in Fort St. John ...

While traveling thru the National Parks ...

He decided to stop for lunch ...

at a rest stop ...

He was surprised to see a herd ...

of Rocky Mountain Sheep ...

walking up beside him ...

They are looking a little shaggy ...

while they are in their molting stage ...

loosing their winter coat ...

Mike is happy to be home ... after his work stint up North ... !!!

It's sure nice to have him home for awhile ...!!!

Scooter Rodeo ...

Today was the day for the Grand Opening of the new Scooter Room ...

at Joseph Creek Village ...

There was a delicious BBQ of hamburgers ... hotdogs ... salads and more ...

all before the Scooter Rodeo would take place ...

Making preparations for the race ... had few struggles with moms helmet ...

but we managed to get it on with her sunglasses ...

Both mom and Burk decorated their helmets ...

mom with a flower and Burk with his Whirly Windmill ...

hoping to get some extra wind power to win the race ...!!!

Let the race begin ... best time wins ...

one lap around the circle and then backing into 2 spots ...

before reaching the finish line ...

There were a lot of laughs ...

watching the Cruisers go around the track ...

some with older scooters that were running at snail speed ...

and needed some assistance ...

Others ... like the Mayor ...

maneuvering a new 4-wheel drive Scooter ...

The ladybug landed on Joe ... so I took it and gave it to mom for good luck ...

The last participant ... came into the race a little late ...

should say ... staggering when out of his wheelchair ...

He was taunting the RCMP ...

who was there to start each race ... he was wondering if he would be in violation ...

with drinking and driving ...

George finally made it back into his cruiser ...

and proceeded to go around the track ... the WRONG WAY ...

almost a collision when he reached the starting point ...

where another resident wanted to take part in the race ...

A great time was had by all ... plus the whole event was televised ...!!!

Should be a hoot to watch ...!!!

 

 

 

Windshield Time ...

Dagmar flew into Cranbrook to visit her family ...

and to keep me company ...

as we drove back to Kelowna ...

for me to pick up the industrial tools ...

that Mike had bought from Jim ...

What a fabulous road trip ... just the two of us ... !!!

We met up with Cindy ... a dear friend of Dagmar's ...

for a lovely luncheon ...

at the Dragonfly Cafe in Salmo ...

Then continued with our Windshield Time ...

chatting ... reminiscing ... laughing and singing ...

It was a beautiful day and great trip ...!!!

When we arrived at the house ...

Jim was so kind to load these gigantic tools ...

into the back of my Buick ...

and all before he cooked a delicious dinner for us ...

Later, as Dagmar and I were visiting in her craft room ...

she taught me how to use a new app ...

to create my posts for my blog ...

Oh my ... It is incredible and so easy ...!!!

Then ...

Dagmar showed me another app ... Waterlogue ...

WOW ....

It takes your photo and creates a beautiful watercolor picture ...

the picture she chose ... was ... of the rhubarb in my garden ...

I have enjoyed playing around with this app ...

and will be posting some of what I created ...!!!

Dagmar and I had a lovely morning ...

enjoying our morning cup of java ... and breakfast ...

still chatting non stop ... before I hit the road ... !!!

My journey home was very relaxing ...

just cruised along ...

with a couple of delays due to road construction ...

Took about 7 hours ... not bad ...

I still had time to stop at the Garden Centre to pick up a few plants ...!!!

When I arrived home ...

I contacted my neighbour to help me unload the car ...

to put the tools into the shop ...

Mike will be so excited to see them ... !!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pool Work ...

Today I was going to tackle opening up the pool ...

since I had been eaten alive while trying to relax ...

in the hot tub the night before ...

First of all I had to start removing the winter cover ...

and siphon out the scummy mosquito infested water ...

With 2 old long pipes from the well ...

I managed to roll up the cover on both sides ...

Once all the stagnant water was removed ... I lifted the cover off ...

I was surprised to see how clear the water was inside ...!!!

The next step was to start filling the pool with fresh water ...

and start connecting all the hoses to the pump and sand filter ...

Keeping my fingers crossed that there wouldn't be any leaks from the valves ...!!!

Yipeeeee ... !!!

Success ... pool filled ...

pump started and NO leaks ...!!!

Took a water sample into town to be tested ...

to see what treatment was needed to get it ...

to the optimal swimming level ...

Guess the wood furnace will have to be fired up now ...

to heat the ice cold water ...!!!

 

A Very Special Gift ...

I received this precious gift ... for my 60th birthday and Mother's Day ...

a beautiful family ring ...

With the birthstones of my grandchildren ...

This Grandma wears it proudly ...!!!

I love my ring ... !!!

 

 

My Mother's Day ...

It was a beautiful ... clear blue sky ... sun shiny day ...

Started out my morning uncovering my plants in the garden ...

waiting for the coffee to brew ...

After receiving my Mother's Day phone calls ...

from Mike, Ian and his family ... and lots of texts ...

I proceeded to prepare my breakfast ...

of homemade crepes ... with raspberry jam ... icing sugar dusting ...

and fresh fruit ...

I ended up going outside to continue working ...

in my rock gardens ...

When I had taken a break ...

I received a message and

FaceTime call from Craig and Ella ...

wondering if I had checked my emails ...

Well ... I got quite the surprise ...

the family had sent the funniest Mother's Day card ...

an animation of dancing to the song "Hey Ma " ... with my face inserted ...

all four figures shaking their booty ...

Hilarious ... !!!!
