A Quiet Evening ...

December 24, 2014
We awoke to a winter wonderland outside our window ...
We were surprised at how much snow had fallen overnight ...

Oma helping out with our traditional Christmas Eve dinner ...
Oma was able to open one of her gifts ...
her non-alcoholic beer ... to enjoy with her meal ...
We had a good laugh over this one ... she had no idea ... !!!
This was our first Christmas Eve dinner ... with just the 3 of us ...
the kids were not able to make it home this year ...
We still enjoyed a delicious meal of European Wieners ...
Sauerkraut ... warm potatoe salad and fresh crusty buns ...
It was decided to have a light dessert ... as we had eaten far too much for dinner ...
an assortment of cookies was all we needed ...

After dinner ... Mike got his exercise bringing up his gift from the basement ...
I was able to drag it out of the vehicle into the house and wrap it ...
but there was no way I could get it upstairs ...
It was too heavy ... !!!
We ended up playing  a few games of 3-handed Eucher ...
then watched A Christmas Carol (1951 version with Alastair Sim) )
Mike's favorite ... !!!

Nathan and the grandchildren made the Knight Family Fudge ...
a tradition that goes back to Mike's grandfather ...
where usually only the men make it ...
and is usually made on Christmas Eve ... !!!

He promised to save us a few pieces ...
of this really creamy batch ... !!!
