Just Having Fun ...

Do you want to wrestle ... ??? ... Before breakfast ... ???
The kids were having fun ... Nixon decided to join in ...
and put a head lock on Craig ...

Craig and James have been making paper airplanes ...
and flying them throughout the house ...
Craig went downstairs to work on another plane ...
we were surprised when he created a massive paper plane ...
It was time to launch it from the second floor ...
a successful flight ...
the kids had a blast ... !!!

Playing with a bucket full of little trucks and cars ...
before bath time ...
James sitting down with Nixon to read him a bedtime story ...
It was precious watching the two of them ... !!!

Birthday Boy ...

Grandma and Grandpa ...

Bike Riding Venture ....

The rain had stopped ... so we decided to go for a walk ...
the kids took the old bikes and off we went ...
Craig was being silly riding the little ... little bike ...
could hardly fit those long legs under the handlebars ...

 

Katie and I took turns ... pushing Nixon in the stroller ... 

and pushing bikes back to the house ...

the kids had enough of riding ... our hills can be quite tiring ...

Katie had taken one bike up the driveway ... then came to get another one ...

calling the kids to come and see what she found on the road ...

all the kids gathered around to see what it was ...

it was a snake ... we were not sure if it was alive or not ...

the boys tried to move it with a stick ...

and it did not move ... then all of a sudden ...

Nixon walked over and picked it up by the tail ...

 and started swinging it around to show everyone ...

you can see the surprised look on his face ...

The snake was not alive ... so we put it into the bush ...

not sure what happened to it ...

Today's Activities ...

The boys were busy creating ... playing with Lego ...
 working with paper and tape ...
to make a road for all the trucks to drive on ...
Nixon having a little trouble with getting a piece of tape for the boys ...
and Ella and Katie were busy making chocolate chip cookies ...

Cookies baked ... lunch devoured ... it was time to go outside ...
Ella was helping Nixon with his socks and shoes ...

A break in the weather enabled them to enjoy playing by the play centre ...
swinging and sliding ...

Surprise For Nixon ...

It was an exciting ... crazy morning for Nixon when he awoke ...
to see his cousins ...
just too much laughter at breakfast ...

Another rainy day ...
meant it was indoor activities ...
for the gang ...
drawing and colouring pictures to start ...

 

Next it was time to concentrate on continuing learning our letters ...

Ella helping Nixon going thru each one ...

saying the animal and then the letter 

as well as the boys using the subtraction and addition flash cards ...

with moms guidance ...

After lunch ... the board and card games were played ...

and many  puzzles put together ...

Hanging Out ...

 

Nixon spending the afternoon with Oma ...

as I was busy in town ...

when we arrived home ...

Nixon had to make his daily rounds ...

first checking out Grandpas shop to see the tractor and daddy's ski doo ...

then up on the deck ... running around ... spotting the play area ...

going for a swing ... then falling fast asleep from being totally exhausted ... !!!

Breakfast with Grandpa ...

Craig wanted to see how tall he was ... standing by Oma ... before he left for school ...
and we made sure that Oma took her shoes off ...
find it hard to believe he has grown that much ...

taking a break after a long trip ...
once we arrived at the house ...

then lending a helping hand ...

 packing upstairs ...

but was distracted by Grandmas walking doll ...

he was so fascinated by her eyes ...

and kept chatting to her as he wondered why she wouldn't answer him ...

One more item needed to be added to the suitcase ...

Nixon figured that he should sit on it for Grandpa ...

so that it could be zipped up ...

Lots of hugs and kisses were given ...

before Grandpa headed out the door ...

A Day of Stress ...

Photos of High River

It was very stressful for all our families ...
Never did Nathan & Katie expect to be evacuated from their home ...
they were given notice in the afternoon on Thursday ...
to head out of town ...
only problem was there were a lot of roads closed ...
due to the flooding ...
They did manage to pack up and head to BC ...
via detours ... washouts ... with only single lane traffic ...
So grateful when they pulled into the driveway ...
safe and sound ...
although they were all very tired ...
It was quite a day of turmoil for the grandchildren ... !!

They were informed today from a neighbour that their home was ok ...
no water nearing their area ...
Still no word as to when they can return home ... !!

It had rained here all day and night on Wednesday and Thursday as well ...
torrential downpour ...
causing our basement to flood too ...
spent time with a mop ... bucket ... lots of towels ... sopping up the water ...
and diverting water away from the house ...
in between taking care of little Nixon ... and during his nap ...
he was such a good little helper ... and then Oma helping out ... watching Nixon ...
as I tried to get information to Nathan and Katie about road conditions ...

My troubles were nothing compared to what the kids were going thru ...
Mike also made it safely to his destination ...

Let's Dance ...

Oma & I were delighted to watch ...
James and Ella perform in their ...
dance recital ...

James was the second of 38 groups of performers ...
His performance group was "Fire Burnin'"...
Boys Hip Hop 5 & 6  ...
music "Fire Burning" by Sean Kingston ...
James was excited to receive roses for his stellar performance ...

 

Ella was the 11th group to make their presence on the stage ...
Her performance was "True Loves Kiss"...
Angelina Ballerina 2 "B" group ...
dancing to "True Loves Kiss " by Enchanted Soundtrack ...
Our little princess is a star in our eyes ...

Our families are all so proud of them both ...
hope they keep up with their dancing ...
all the performers received medals ...
a token of their participation in the ...
"Alberta Dance Academy "

Fun At The Mall ...

We met the gang at the mall ...
the boys were delighted to see us ...

Strolling thru the mall ...
checking things out ...

The boys caught site of some rides ...
of course ...
Grandma had to dig out a few loonies ...
for the boys to go for a ride ...

and Nixon wanted to go for a ride on the pirate ship ...

Back Deck Spruced Up ...

 

After a day of removing and replacing old boards ...

Mike spent Saturday cleaning and sanding the wood ...

what a difference it makes ...

with the back deck freshened up with a coat of stain ...

Looking forward to enjoying time by the pool ... !!!

Garden Update ...

Leaf lettuce explosion ... peas climbing on the trellis ... mini cauliflower and broccoli ...
and a sprouting bean plant ...

Beets ... spinach ... broccoli ... potatoes ... kale ... carrots ... parsley ... horseradish ...

Picking a handful of strawberries daily ... onions ... zucchini plants ... kale ... radishes ...
little apples on the tree ...
it's great to be eating fresh produce every day ...
I just love being in my garden ... !!!!

Day of Birds ...

... Happy Father's Day ...

Looked across the field and saw a wild white turkey ...
along with the wild turkeys ...
Tom turkey was keeping a close on them ...
from a distance

It was a battle of the birds today ...
a few gophers were in the yard ...
and between the turkey vultures ... crows ... Golden Eagle ...
circling in the air ...
a Bald Eagle dove thru all of them ...
and plucked the gopher off the ground ...
A spectacular sight to see ... !!!

Birthday Party In Style ...

Kendall celebrated her birthday on May 20 ...
She decided she wanted to have a theme party ...
and she just loves ...

so all the ladies dressed up in Vintage attire ...
and had the perfect photo shoot ...
with the T-bucket ...

Everyone had a great time ... !!!

Deck Work ...

Another day out working on the deck ...
Tony installed all the posts ...
upper and lower rails ...

 

Yesterday ... all the pickets were installed ...

absolutely love how it looks ...

plus all the measurements for the glass ...

were taken for the 2 remaining sides ...

all should be finished next week ...

Excited to get everything put back in place ...

so we can sit outside and enjoy it ... !!!
