Tubing in the Field …

After my afternoon of cross-country skiing on Sunday…

I met the neighbour boys and their friends … on the road by the gate …

they were going to go sledding thru the trails …

I mentioned to them that they could play out in the field …

they were so excited … a wide open place for them to go tubing …

Even Kita was delighted to be out roaming around and catching mice …

It was so nice to hear them laughing and having so much fun ….

I enjoyed every moment of watching them …

thinking back to when our boys would play out there in the snow for hours …

I'm sure they would be sledding with them … if they were home … !!!

Off Skiing Again …

 Another fabulous afternoon …

out on a cross-country ski trek …

this time we went up to almost the 12 km mark …

on Ha Ha Creek forestry road …

then ventured off the beaten track …

heading for Tees Lake …

It was a little tough going in spots … on the road …

trying to avoid the large truck tire tracks … 

a lot of dips and churned up snow … 

we decided to turn around and head back the same way …

as you can see …

we did not venture too far off the from whence we came … 

It was still great to be out …

enjoying the fresh air …!!!

Continuing on our hike … up and down the hills … amazed by the hoar frost all around us …

wishing there was some sunshine …

it would have been a glistening haven …

Keeping track of our adventures …

then meeting up with the skiing group … at one of the homes …

having refreshments, a light meal …

 and watching the football game …

Another wonderful Sunday afternoon with friends … !!!

last Friday … was the worst …

and this old barn could no longer stand against the forces …

First Outing With the Gang …

This was the first outing with part of the gang …
we try to go skiing … hiking … snow-shoeing …
every Sunday afternoon …

It was decided to up the Ha Ha Creek logging Road …
drove up to kilometre #6 …
then trekked our way up the road to the 11 km mark …
turning to our left and skiing on the trails …

Wishing our little grandson …

a very Happy Fun Birthday … !!!

Last Night Together …

We had driven to the house …

staying overnight there … and off to the airport in the morning …

The kids had a few appointments to go to … 

and then some shopping with their Christmas money …

Ella buying clothes with hers and the boys buying games for their 3DS"s …

After dinner we ended up going downstairs … playing games and getting ready …

to have a pyjama party … all of us on the couches … with blankets and pillows …

It wasn't long before we were all fast asleep … 

Awake a 4:00 am … got dressed … finished packing and loading the car …

and we were off to the airport …

until they come back for a visit in the Spring …

giving them lots of hugs and kisses … before I left to head back home …

Hope they had a safe and great trip … !!!

Another beautiful day for a cross-country ski outing …

Stopping along the trails … taking in the view from the top of the ridge …

We left the house and travelled on along a path around the property …

crossing the highway at Ha Ha Creek …

skied thru the bush to the edge of the gravel pit … 

then turned around and made our way back …

turning to the right after we crossed the highway again …

and skiing along the ridge and back to the house …

It was another awesome day … !!!!

Mayook Bambini …

The Mayook Community purchased a Baby Zamboni …

called a Bambini …

 to improve the ice surface …

for skating on Ha Ha Lake (Rothwell's Lake)…

Thanks to Larry and Don for doing all the work creating the two rinks…

 for the community to play hockey and skate on…

  The rinks have been well used over the holidays. 

Plans are in the works for a fun drop hockey game one Saturday afternoon…

 with a bon fire, hotdogs and hot chocolate and maybe a curling game …

 In the meantime we are enjoying the beautiful ice conditions …

 while we have it.
