A Day In The Garden ...

We were able to bring home about a half an ice-cream bucket ...

full of huckleberries ...

they were washed and vacuumed sealed in packages for the freezer ...

Should be enough to make a Huckleberry Pie ... !!!

Resi enjoyed going down to the garden ...

to gather the produce that was ready to be picked ...

I decided to dig up one of the potato plants ...

they were so delicious with our evening meal ...

The squash would take a couple more weeks ...

before they would be ready to eat ...

After our dinner ... and a few sociables ...

we decided to go for a walk up to the neighbours ...

Klaus and Resi were interested ...

in checking out their garden ...

Don & Bonnie have an incredible garden ...

We spent quite a bit of time roaming thru the produce ...

then sitting down ... enjoying the view ...

and having a great time ... !!!

It was getting dark out ...

Resi was a little concerned about walking home ...

she did not want to meet any animals along the way ... !!!

Resi was relieved when we were home well before it was completely dark ... !!!

 

 

Heading For The Mountains ...

On our way to Rosen Lake ...

to meet up with the gang ...

there was a cattle drive along the highway ...

Klaus & Resi saw some real western cowboys ... !!!

Reaching our meeting place ...

packing up and ready for the days adventure ...

on the back roads and trails ...

on the search for Huckleberries ...

Stopping on our way up ... travelling about 12km ...

taking a short break ...

Riding on to another area ...

stopping for Klaus and Resi to see the view of Lizard Peak ...

and having our picnic lunch ...

then travelling a few more kilometres ...

to start picking huckleberries ...

The huckleberry picking was sparse ...

we decided to start heading back ...

stopping along the way at another place to pick a few more berries ...

there seemed to be a little more in this area ...

Once we decided we had had enough ...

we ventured down the mountain ... back to the meeting place ...

Loading up the quads ...

Then enjoying some refreshments by the campsite ...

while going over the days adventure ... !!!

This was our trip ...

we actually travelled at total of 45 km ...

a portion of the trip was out of range of coverage on my phone ...

 

We decided to stop at the Jaffray Pub ...

for dinner ...

we were all tired and hungry ...

It was perfect ... no cooking or dishes ... !!!

We had a great day ...

Klaus & Resi loved the adventure ... !!!

 

Getting Ready ...

Klaus & Resi really wanted to see the wildlife in our field ...

I happened to get up very early ... and while everyone else was sleeping ...

there was a herd of bucks in the yard and field ...

plus ... one lone elk ... !!!

I was torn as to whether I should wake them up ...

I had enough time to grab my camera and take a few pictures ... !!!

Later that day ...

we went for a walk and checked the bluebird house ...

and found 4 eggs in the nest ...

 

We ended up going into town ...

to pick up some goggles ... helmets and Lounge Box ...

for the quad trip ...

It was the perfect day for us to have dinner with Oma and the gang ... !!!

Once we arrived home ...

it was time to install the new lounge box ...

on my quad ...

Everyone helping out ... !!!

We're almost ready for our wilderness adventure ...

still needed to load up the quads ...

tie them down ...

and pack up the rest of the gear ... !!!

Leaving early in the morning ...

heading into the mountains ... !!!

 

Fish Fry Outside ...

The weather has been extremely hot ...

so it was decided to do all the cooking outside this day ...

Mike was in charge of grilling up the potato and onion mixture ...

and I used the BBQ to fry up the halibut ...

and boil up the corn ...

Salads were made ahead of time ...

The buffet table was set up ... ready for our evening meal ...

Few words were spoken during dinner ... lots of MMMMMMM's ...

Everyone loved Mike's famous grilled potatoes ...

and the fresh fried halibut ... !!!

 

Our First Adventure ...

Our first day out for a stroll ...

then hopping on the quads ... to go for a ride around the property ...

so that Klaus could get a chance to get used to our quad ...

Stopping on one of the ridges ...

with a view point ...

we are not able to see as much of the view ...

with the growth of all the trees ...

We may have to clear a few of them out ... !!!

After our adventure on the quad ride ...

it was time to take a break ...

in the swimming pool ...

It was so nice that Oma & Joe ...

came out for a visit ...

to join us ... for a cool dip ... !!!

 

Cousins Arrived ...

My cousins finally arrived from Austria ...

a day later ...

due to engine issues on their plane ...

Mom picked them up and drove out to the house ...

we enjoyed a lovely afternoon ...

sitting back and relaxing ...

We went down to the garden ...

to gather some produce for dinner ...

Barb and Patricia arrived to take the horses for a ride ...

it is so nice to have the horses here grazing in the field ...

Klaus and Resi brought us gifts from Austria ...

cigars for Mike ...

some of my favourite chocolate ...

a CD of their son's harmonica group ...

and a beautiful hand x-stitched tea towel ...

After dinner ...

we sat outdoors while Mike enjoyed one of his cigars ...

It was an early night for our guests ...

so they would get a goodnights sleep ...

for the next days activites ... !!!

 

Music on the Mountain ...

What a wonderful experience ... to take part in this beautiful event ...

riding on the quad chair lift to the top ...

Hay bales were brought up to the performance area ...

for people to sit down ...

the symphony orchestra played a number of pieces ...

the music was heavenly ...

The ride down was breath taking ... even with the haze from all the forest fires ...

seeing the terrain and the village below ...

I took a picture of the sun setting behind us ...

a perfect ending to a perfect evening with music ...!!!

 

 

Deck Completed ...

July 5 & 6, 2015

Our deck was finally completed ... thanks to Nathan for helping us out ...

just in time for our company to arrive ...

We love how it turned out ...!!!

The last thing we wanted to complete ...

was getting gravel for the area off the deck ...

We thought we would try out the Easy Loader ...

for the back of the truck ...

Once the truck was loaded ...

it was time to see how well this contraption worked to unload ...

It was actually amazing how well it did work ...

at first loading it into the tractor ...

to haul to the dirt landing area ... !!!

Gravel unloaded ... and raked out ...

NOW ...

we have completed the new deck and surrounding area ... !!!

It's party time ...!!!

While James & Ella were relaxing in the hot tub ...

Craig helped me in the kitchen ...

setting the table for dinner ...

plus he was very creative with the napkins ...

something different for each one of us ...

Craig went into the shop ...

to help Grandpa with the VW ...

chiseling off the old coating on the chassis ...

Craig & James ...

in their new riding gear ...

It was too hot for Craig outside ...

he stayed in and decorated the house ...

blowing up water balloons and with the static ...

he stuck them on the logs ...

I then asked Craig to lend me a hand in the kitchen ...

to bake a cake ...

I needed flour and sugar from the pantry ... he said he would get it ...

the next thing I knew was the flour and sugar were out ...

and so was everything else ...

I'm not sure what possessed him to crawl into the cupboard to get the ingredients needed ...

The heat must have gotten to him ... !!!

After dinner the guys went out to the shop ...

to fire up the sandblaster ...

to start cleaning up the VW ...

Grandpa had all the gear for Craig to try out the machine ...

Nathan and Craig worked away on the old car ...

Once the guys had had enough of working on the old car ...

it was time to play in the pool ...

filling up the water balloons and tossing them around the pool ...

They were having lots of fun ...

Grandpa, Nathan and the children ...

headed down to the lake ...

to go swimming and fish for bass ...

Then later going in for a dip in the hot tub ...

on their last night from visiting us ...

Even though it was only a couple of days ...

they sure were action packed with having fun ... !!!

 

Present Delivered ...

Daigen was excited when he heard the doorbell ring ...

he knew his birthday gift had arrived ...

Daigen loves playing with Domino Rally Sets ...

His daddy helps him set it all up ...

and they all enjoy watching the rally begin ...

and come crashing down ...

Nixon also likes to play with the Domino Rally set ...

it amazes me to how much he has grown ...

How fun to dress up ... our two little Ninjas ...

having a great day ... !!!

Can't wait to see them all this summer ... !!!

 

Time To Work ...

It was time to finish the special cut decking boards ...

around the pool ...

Nathan helped us this day to get it done ...

the children enjoyed their time in the pool ...

often hitting grandpa with the ball ...

and splashing the two of them with the water ...

It was so nice to finally have this section of the deck completed ...

While the guys kept working ...

Ella helped me transplant a few flowers into the flower pots ...

Then we went into the garden to pick the broccoli and cauliflower ...

James and Ella love the hot tub ... especially when the jets are turned on ...

so the bubbles begin to form ...

It was another hot day ...

the best to be was in the pool ...

Katie had gone into town ... and picked up some pool toys for the kids ..

those little blow-up rings were great ...

the kids would try and jump or dive ...

into the centre of them ...

they had a lot of fun staying cool ...

Once Nathan and Mike were finished with the last of the decking ...

they also jumped into the pool to cool off ...

then into the hot tub to relax ...

It was an awesome day ...

getting everything done with another set of hands helping ...
