Our Last Boating Day ...

August 27, 2015
Spending time in my garden ...
after our cousins were on their way ...
to travel around BC for a holiday ...

August 28, 2015
We decided to go for a drive ...
to check out the fishing conditions ...
Stopping at Rock Creek to see if the fish were spawning yet ...
the pools looked clear ... therefore we should be able to go fishing tomorrow ...
The smoke from the fires was still really thick ...
could not see the mountains at all ...
We went down to the boat launch ...
and were surprised at how much the water had been drawn down ...
and many fish were floating on the lake as well as washed ashore ...
We went to the Koocanusa Store and chatted with the owners ...
they had said that with the water being drawn to fast ...
it had an affect on the fish ... we later found out that part of the dying fish ...
is from lack of oxygen in the water ...
On our way home from checking out the lake conditions ...
we noticed that the smoke was lifting ...
and we could see the outline of the mountains ...

We did decide to take the boat out ...
for one last cruise on the lake ...
and to do a little fishing ... first going down the lake ... and then headed to the bridge ...
The fishing was really slow ... until about 3:00 ... then we started to catch fish ...
Our time was cut short ... with only three fish in the boat ...
a storm ... all of a sudden appeared out of nowhere ...
with difficulty ... we managed to make our way back to the boat launch ...
there were many boats trying to get out of the water ...
the wind was so strong ...
Many of the boaters needed help getting their boats unto their trailers ...
I was grateful that a gentleman helped me with securing the boat on the trailer ...
as Mike drove it on ... !!!
The wind was extreme ... trees were bent over ... tall grass flatten on the ground ...
it was wild ... !!!
Going into the outhouse ... watching the trees swaying ...
just kept saying please trees do not fall on me now ...
this is not how I want to be found ... tee hee ... !!!
Finally safe at home ... watching the storm over the mountains ...
sun shining in the front yard and blue sky appearing in the backyard ...
Crazy weather today ... !!!
These three little Kokanees ...
were the last catch of the season for us ...
Frying up a batch of potatoes and boiling some corn ...
for side dishes ...
made a perfect meal ...
Later going down to the garden to pick a few apples for our dessert ...
It was quite the day for out last boating adventure ...!!!

  1. That was quite the storm, glad it all ended so well. I am sure those Kokanee tasted extra good!
